HID help?

I just ordered 55W 5k HID's for my taco. Has anyone had problems with their headlights melting? I know 55W runs hotter so. My headlights do have a clear oat on them as well.

 

Hids run cooler than equivalent halogen from what i can tell. Are you putting them in stock halogen housings?

 

No melting..... Just gunna blind the shit outta ppl if stock housings and on road

 

Only people with problems are other drivers

No i was saying although you will have no problem, other drivers will be blinded, therefore having a problem... The was basically just if you do this you have successfully became a a-hole

 

Well can't I readjust my headlights down more to keep from blinding others?

I am putting the the HID's in the OEM housings.

 

No, the simplest way to explain it is the HIDS just spray freaking light everywhere

Do it right and use retrofits if you wana use hids. Using them in stockers can and has got ppl hurt.

 

Agreed HID's are blinding with stock housings. I have my stock housings painted black but I also have Blue Demon eye projector retrofits. I had HID's with stock housings before and everybody was flashing their lights at me especially since I have a lift.

 

Did your headlights perform better with stock housings or now that you have projectors

 

They were brighter with the stock housings but I wasn't happy blinding everybody. I even lowered my headlight to where I could see just right in front of me cause they were so bright. That is why I got projectors cause they have a projector "cut off" and you don't blind drivers but when you put the lights on high it raises the projector to just a regular HID bulb and you can see just like and ordinary HID set up. I even bought a set of LED headlights but got retrofits before I ever got a chance to install them. The guy I sold the LED's to loves them. He said they are super bright and the light throw is great. Plus with HID's you have to have so much more wiring and components to your system. Here are the LED's I sold. So simple. I got my HID system from @theretrofitsource and it is top quality. So when I bought the retrofits all I had to do was switch the bulbs from an H4 to a mini h1 and harnesses. Just plug n play

 

So if you mean perform better is bright af than yeah a regular HID system is brighter but I didn't like blinding everybody. And if you have the projector cut off dialed in right they are just as good. Here are the projectors I installed in my truck from LS15 on TW

 

Just wondering I also have retros haven't tried them out at night yet tho... I did my own retrofit... I went with the retrofit sources frx stage 3... So needless to say my projectors are a bit deeper but should have amazing illumination at night... Can't wait

 

I think a better explanation is the HID light output is so much greater that a halogen bulb, the reflector in the stock housing that is designed for the halogen light output just scatters that extra light to places it should not go. A projector focuses that HID light output so it does not blind other drivers. No inappropriate light scatter.
