Morimoto or Hylux is gonna probably be the best as far as drop in. I'd highly recommend swapping to a d2s projector so you can use a legit bulb if you're able to afford it.

So your saying the stock projectors aren’t going to work or the ds2 are better for hid.

No you can get a drop-in h11 bulb for sure and they can be decent, but H(alogen)11 hid bulbs are not manufactured by any oem supplier. D2s is just ideal because then you can get a bulb made by Philips or osram, not just a cheap rebase.

This is a morimoto 5500k bulb (left) vs stock on the right. So there is a big difference, but the quality of bulb just isn't on par with the big names.

I have a set of kensun leds now and I like the color but they don’t shine down the road well.

Unless you get an actual LED projector like the i.lens or morimoto m-led then you'll have that problem. There is definitely no denying that the color of LED headlights is the best though!

I researched the hell out of this exact topic and ended up pulling the trigger on XenonDepot kit with Philips bulbs.

TRS is another very popular choice but the hit or miss bulb bounce issue kept me from buying from them.

Is the relay harness and the canceling device needed?

People are running them without the harness, and just swapping the fuse from a 15 to 20amp. Personally I'll be running the harness, not to fond of modifying my brand new trucks electrical system.

You won't need an error-cancelling device for a 2017 Tacoma, and the relay harness is a matter of personal preference - I generally recommend you try without them first, because that gives you one less component to worry about. Most newer vehicles will be efficient enough on power for you to not require the relay harness, but if you want to be sure of getting that steady 12V signal from the battery you can use them if you like.

Philips bulbs? Did you swap to a d2s projector?

XenonDepot converts the base of Philips bulbs to make them into H11 bulbs.

Will I get better down road light if I install a hid kit with my stock projectors? Or should I just stay with the led bulbs?

    @2017 tacoma sport

    (1) An H11 HID kit will be brighter then an H11 LED kit. Our H11 LED kits produce approximately ~1750 stable lumens, whereas a 4300k HID kit will produce approx 3200 lumens.

    (2) LED is a great way to go if you want more light then stock, but don't want to go as bright as HID. Having said that, LED is a fantastic option for the fog lights, as they're brighter then a stock H11 halogen, and way brighter then the low-wattage H16 bulb (Tacoma uses either H11 or H16 depending on trim level).

    (3) Here is a really great review of our H11 HID bulbs (aftermarket HID bulbs are manufactured to varying levels of quality):

    http://www.xenondepot.com/2017-ct200h-h11-hid-bulbs-s/99.htm

    (4) Here is a recent review of our all-new H11 Xtreme LED pro bulbs (complete with lux measurements at 30ft):

    http://www.xenondepot.com/2017-ct200h-led-headlight-kit-review-s/101.htm

    Hope this helps,

    Steve
