how much of the headlight assembly did you have to chop out?

so the shield needed alot of trimming too?

it will look something like this after cutting.

I'm not done since the way most people mount it using the 4 bolts do not seem like they will hold up to prolonged vibration.

If you're planning to do this.. do yourself a favor and buy a set of brand new replacement OEM style hosings from Amazon for like $55/pair. the quality is pretty darn good. I wouldn't dare do this to my OEM Toyota ones.

ya my lights right now are terrible.....i'm coming from older VW's where i've got ecodes and relayed and over wattage H4 bulbs

my taco, the lenses are fogged over so they are even worse than factory

once i get the HID kit i'll take care of the lenses and installed the kit.....should be an amazing difference

Just reheat the headlights and clamp them together.

If nothing else I would suggest some window weld or at least some RTV silicone around the light to make sure that it is good and sealed...

one thing that I find to be mildly annoying is dealing with the factory sealant/glue/goo. If you don't get it hot enough it's like string cheese and gets all over the damn place (i.e lens, housing, reflector, etc...) :(. If you get it too hot then you risk the lens melting. My suggestion is to use a heatgun for spot heating but to first boil water and drop the entire assembly in a big pot.

How many people have a pot big enough to drop their entire housing in? And I don't want to worry about getting all that water out

I should have clarified. You don't need to get water into the lens (why would you do that anyway? lol) Just get the boiling water past the clear lens with the clear lens inserted into the water first. Wish i had a visual aid...

There are several methods to heat the sealant. This is just my preferred way I came up with on my own. Some bake them in the oven... some use a flame torch... etc.

    haha blow torch lol

what temp in the oven? 350 i think i saw? for 8 minutes?

    same to reseal them?

after getting it back together i'd just run a bead of seal selant around the exterior to make extra sure
