^ they are considered THE bi-xenon for larger headlights...hence the reason i have them in my truck and will use them for my setup.

Which ballast would anyone recommend as far as the Denso OEM or the Matsushita OEM. Also, do they come in 55 watts as well or just 35 watts? The reason I ask is I would want to run the Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs which can be run in both 35 and 55 watt ballasts.

^ either are good. some say the matsushita's are potted better, but the densos are slim, so... i personally used the densos in my retro and have been very happy with them. both are 35w, as they are OEM. there are no 55w OEM ballasts. you are aware that the 85122+ bulbs will not color shift to 5k, they will stay at 4.3k their entire life.

Thanks Yosh, I would probably go with the Densos since they are slim as well. It just makes it easier if they take up less space IMO. As for the bulbs, I think I could put up with no color shifting to 5k.:) My fogs right now are 4.3k and I really like the output, especially in bad weather. I am going for performance/output rather than show, although the whole set up would be pretty trick anyway.

Also, how do you mount your projectors and shrouds? I noticed you did something different (vacuum formed shrouds), but how about e46-r or ocular shrouds for example. I am thinking I might retrofit my extra set of stock headlights. Thanks

Just food for thought. There are many on here that have already bought plug and play kits for the reflector based OEM housings. Any thoughts to adapter kits so that the members would still be able to run their ballasts that are already installed.

I only mention this because my short time that I have been on TW I have witnessed quite a few GBs on HID PNPs. Also, have you thought about offering your installation services as well. This is the part that make most people cringe due to the fact they're messing with a valuable safety mechanism-their headlights.

^ yep, there are AMP to D2S adapters already out there! this would allow you to use quality OEM phillips bulbs w/ your existing ballasts.

im down to help installs anytime...you have to come to my place though! not sure on price, but my company thinks im worth over $30 an hour, so...!!

Definitely think about the install services. Cesar at Lightwerks charges a pretty penny(of course, he is one of if not the best) and has a backlog consistently.

install service meaning what...the whole retro or just installing a PNP aftermarket HID kit? not sure what your getting at?

if you mean the whole retro, this is what im hoping my PNP TL kit will be, so that either i or someone that orders it could do it.

Yes, this is if you aren't using a projector and doing a half arsed retro. Not as bad as a basic PNP kit!

    Your retro looks good.

But i have a possible stupid question, y didn't you just cut a hole big enough to put the lens and end of the projector in the factory bulb spot and basically mount the bulk of the projector to the back of the housing. I know nothing about retros but i was thinking of doing it my self, mounting it from the back and just using a flat black paint to black out the reflector so it doesn't mess with the beam. it seems, at least in my head, that it would be alot easier then mounting the whole projector within the housing and having to make that ring to hide everything. like i said i know nothing about retros, these are just my thoughts, if there is a reason other then cosmetics for doing it this please let me know.
