I revved it up pretty good a few times and pushed it up to 50mph from stop down the road for a few miles, it still seemed to be a little high. I'm gonna see what it does after a few days. I've been noticing things that the previous owner did to my truck... one of the most recent wtf finding was that he had removed the EGR valve and some of that system. dude was an engineer for the army corps of engineers, so he's done some pretty interesting things here and there but neglected to tell me any of those things he's done

IIRC, the 3.4 doesnt have an EGR valve.

it looks like the EGR valve is supposed to be like right behind the throttle body, and this hose is supposed to be 2, going to and from the EGR valve and modulator. I'm a newby tacoma owner though, so I'm not the most knowledgeable about what motor has what components on it

On mine, both of those are capped off, but I was wondering about them as well, and if there should be something going to em.

Your IAC (idle air control valve) is stuck open. It provides additional air for warm up then as the coolant temp rises... the valve closes and idle returns to approx 750ish rpm. Its the valve on the bottom of your throttle body with the coolant hoses attached to it. AC197.jpg

Ohh good, I was about to say WTF is going on with my trucks lines?!
I thought about that thing, but hows it get unstuck? Its starting to idle better, but it only idles a little below 1K with the A/C on, but with it off its back up at 1100 to 1200.. aren't the rmps supposed to increase with the A/C on? thinking it could be something with the A/C Idle up valve?

Not sure if it can be manually unstuck as it appears to be a sealed (non-repairable) item. As for the decrease in rpms with the A/C on, the IAC would adjust and provide added air. I went thru the same scenario as you after I disassembled my engine and media blasted all my parts including my throttle body. I taped up all the openings/inlets but some of the fine media worked its way into that IAC valve and it was stuck open from that moment. After reading the repair manual, I found a passage in that manual that says something to the effect of "do not attempt to clean this valve". Once I changed that valve ALL idle problems solved. I opted to get an aftermarket one and it lasted approx. 12,000+ miles with no issues. Hope this is of some help.

if this valve was stuck and your rpm's are at 1100 1200 and when driving the truck did you have any issues like spudering or any other items?

Disconnect the battery for atleast 10 mins. to reset the computer. connect it and take it for a ride, but you have to get the rpm's up. after the ride idel and see if it's back to normal.
