High idle due to butterfly shaft sticking (5VZ-FE Manual trans)

Had the same problem your experiencing worn out throttle body shaft causing high idle problems
On the 2000 Throttle body the butterfly shaft is only connected to the linkage by a separate arm that can be easily taken off then using 12 mm socket you can remove the actuator that touches the pot that your talking about moving and the idle lowers. I found that just removing that arm that attaches to the butterfly shaft and adding a couple of thin brass washers allowing just a little bit of movement In and out of the shaft and then it allows the butterfly not to get stuck, which fix the idle problem. It's a simple fix verse buying a new or used throttle body. I can upload a few pics later might help. The pic above in this thread is different think for an 04/05 model.
Don't give up you'll figure it out eventually.

 

There is a place that can rebuild the throttle bodies by rebushing the shaft. If the throttle plate is scraping anywhere on bore the shaft has to much play. I don't know the name of the place but it's on the forum here somewhere.
