honestly it really depends on how I drive. I have gotten a tiny bit better than 23mpg in the past but if I get into the throttle too much I don't even see a difference between standard oil and 0-20. So If you want to sunday drive then it'd prolly get you a couple mpgs.

What I meant to ask was this: How many miles were on your truck when you switched from 5w30 to 0w20?

208,500 on my 2009 5 lug Access Cab automatic. I drive it the same way I did when I bought it including towing my Carolina Skiff. On my second set of front brake pads. 3rd battery. Numerous tires. 65th oil change. 2nd radio antenna. No other repairs other than body work when I hit a deer in Tennessee. I use 5W-20 oil. I put 235-70-15s on it after the original factory set of tires and consistently get 20-21 mpg running 80-85 on the interstate.

I've got 270,000 on my 05 4x4 4cyl and I've beat the cap out of her. engine still runs OK still has power and feels tight. just makes some noises here and here and burns some oil. Planning on swapping engines when I hit 300,000.

2.5 lift, the usual that goes with it. Work in progress.
I got 236000 and change. 96, 3" inch lift and 33's, 2.7 3rz, slow but runs well. Mpg is about 18 on the highway.

Fat Bobs 2.75 lift and level with short AAL, 16x8 Level 8 Guardian Wheels, 245/75R16 Toyo Open Country ATII, custom trans shift kit(home made), Trans temp. and Vac gauge, URD fuel pump upgrade(going back to stock soon).
195k on my 05 2TR burns a little oil, plenty of brake changes, gear oil changes, trans pan clean outs, 2 fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator and pulsation dampener, way too many shocks and struts to count and 4 sets of spark plugs. Currently running 0W-40 Mobil 1 and a Motorcraft FL400S filter. Beaten the tar out of this truck and it still has a tight front end.

I'd love to start this thread up again and see where everyone is. I have heard the 5spd in the 2nd gens is pretty bulletproof but all these high milers seem to have manuals, would love to get some insight on that particular tranny. My 2012 4spd I4 4x4 work truck is going strong (although she rattles quite a bit) with 149K even being idled all day every day, 4 wheeled, and otherwise thrashed. The work taco only ever gets penzoil changes at 5K, plugs and filters every 50k. My personal 2015 TRD OR 5spd 4x4 4.0L has 44K and is, of course, as smooth as butter.

My 2004 RC 4X4 2.7 5 speed Tacoma has a little over 175,000 miles on it. Runs like new except for a very minor slightly rough idle every now and then. Considering the mileage some get with the 2.7 I really don't consider mine a "high mileage" Tacoma. It's had mostly highway miles and a lot of very mild off-roading it's entire life. It's had 4 batteries (the first under warranty), 1 water pump under warranty, outer tie-rods, rack bushings, all new Old Man Emu suspension except for Deaver J-59 leaves in the rear.

That's it in well over 175,000 miles with nothing but routine maintenance such as oil, gear box and spark plug changes etc. It's only had three sets of tires in that time as well and one brake job back at around 60,000 miles. Those brakes are still good at over 175,000 miles but I'm preparing for a complete brake job in the future. Not bad at all.

2011 5-speed manual 2wd, sitting at 104k. Drive it conservatively, rarely gun it. Brake well in advance of stop lights. Here's my list:

    - Just did front brakes (pads were almost completely gone) - paid too much and probably was overcharged
    - About to put new tires on (2nd set after factory Dunflops)
    - Mobil 1 0w20 every 5-7k miles
    - Self installed a tow hitch early in its life
    - On my 2nd battery
    - K&N air filter, 2nd airbox delete
    - Seafoamed at 100k (brake booster and fuel)
    - Drained radiator (not block) and replaced w/ genuine Toyota pink @ 100k
    - Tow a jet ski a couple times a month, almost no offroading
    - 24 to 27mpg (235/70/15 Firestone Destination LE2's), 75%hwy 25%cty

Only complaint is musty AC smell from time to time at season changes, been recently spraying Lysol into the fan under the cabin air filter and it seems to help. Front headlamps are starting to yellow a bit.

    I'm about to hit 200k.

I've already done in the past 25k:

    Rear Diff fluid change
    PCV Valve
    Valve Cover Gasket
    Timing Chain Cover Gasket
    Spark Plugs
    Coil Boots and Springs
    Coil Gaskets

What I'm thinking I need to do:

    Oil Change (always every 3k)
    Air Filter
    Transmission Fluid and Filter

Anything else that needs to be done around 200k? Fuel Filter Maybe? That's just a pain to get to.

Bleed the brakes if not done in the last 3 years. Change coolant (book says first service at 100k, then every 50k thereafter). Inspect and/or replace the shocks/struts... same for the U-joints. Change (or at least refresh) the power steering fluid. Also cabin air filter but that's one of those as needed/YMMV things.

I don't have a cabin filter so I'm good there. Brakes have been done I forgot to add. I can do the coolant. The truck got a whole new OME suspension 20K ago as well.

The last 2.7 MY99 I had was purchased back by Toyota at 200K due to frame rail rust.

    Bullet proof truck IMO.
