How many high miles dudes out there? I have 212,000 on my 2007. Still quiet, tight, interior in great shape, paint looks great. I hear some guys go 300k plus; I hope to go that far. Post up if your over 200k and still going strong!

I had a 2007 ac sr5 2.7 sold it with 270k. The brakes, clutch were original. I miss that truck

By brakes do you mean pads? Or rotors / calipers?

If you meant pads, can you give us a tutorial on using The Force to stop your vehicle?

So with a standard, the "force" must be down shifted to save on brake pads. The only thing I replaced on my 'old friend' was the usual suspension..coil overs, shocks, and the notorious leaf springs. And the passenger front wheel bearing twice.

Are you saying that you went 270k over 8 years on the factory brake pads?

If so and if true, you are the Yoda of engine braking and rev-matched downshifting. I bow to you.

Isn't that supposed to be hard on piston rings if done regularly?

I thought that's why we bought a Toyota, quality craftsmanship! Maybe I just got a good truck. Idk but whatever I did with that truck, I hope I can make happen with this new one.

Rolled 38k on mine the other day. Hope to get a few hundred thousand out of it.

You guys who are sitting at 200k+, how are you driving it? Slow and low RPMs? I drive a little closer to aggressive than I do to old man, and don't want to shoot myself in the foot.

A buddy of mine with an older 22re swears by "Frequent Italian Tuneups", though I have no idea how many miles or what sort of mpg he gets.

Yeah what's the catch? Mine is at 120xxx but I'm not sure what I'll get out of it. You 200,000+ guys, have you ever floored it? If so how often? I do it maybe once a month. I could probably do it less. I never turn off the engine hot though.

I have toyed with the idea of restoring it a little, i.e. replacing seals and other rubbery pieces. They get dingy.

I drove it 5,000 miles across the US at 205,000 miles on the odo. Full throttle pulls in 3rd gear sometimes for 3-5 minutes continuous to get up the mountain pulling a uhaul! She likes being revved. I take it easy until she's warmed up put after that you can drive it how you want. I drive smooth and deliberate in town though.

I was surprised how well that engine is built. Downright amazing. BTW still on original clutch I changed the rear drum brakes for the first time before the trip.

Here she is today just put on her winter shoes. 659E4E60-E5DD-4D07-8EFF-507F3D71FBD1_b5d47f2b9ded5e95c4f8a74d478a969dfc12453c.jpg

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I have 191k on my 05. I don't dog it, but i do drive it like I always have. Oh, and I bought this truck WELL used. Like at 140k. I didn't even think twice about the mileage. I know guys who drive 88 toyota trucks with jasper motors in them. body and original frame have like 400k on them at least.

I agree 100%. Once an engine is up to operating temperature, they can be flogged without worry. Too many people that running to redline or full throttle will hurt something. If it would, Toyota wouldn't let it go that far, since they have to warranty it.

I had a 4cyl 1992 and 2002 4cyl. Both had over 200,000 miles when I sold them and kept going more for the new owners. The 92 had a little engine ticking and burned a slight amount of oil. The 02 ran smooth and burned zero oil. I used synthetic oil in both and changed it regular. Most of the repairs on both were caused by corrosion due to road salt. The only other issue was both wore out front tires quickly. My latest Tacoma is a 2015 6cyl. I had the 2015 coated with Fluid Film the day after I bought and plan to coat it at least every year.

Yeah the salt is hard to fight for any vehicle; Im not familiar with Fluid film but luckily in Alaska they use mostly sand and a little Magnesium chloride. Cant be polluting our streams for the Salmon. :) Windshield cracks are most common but I have a 100$ deductible and just replace when needed.
