Generally this your statement would be correct but This would be useless to me as well, I wouldn't do it to you guys
I'm looking at some w idle around 190amp and peak 270-320.
When I feel there is enough demand I'll put in more effort to get a group buy going

    yep same one.

And yea you can i guess.

I didn't. I wired up quick releases on both alternators and carry the old stock one as a spare on trips and both belts. I can swap em out pretty quickly if needed.

100% all new pieces, No reman or core's they honestly kick ass.

There is a lot of work and technology to them.

Most people dont know/understand the difference between these new high power alternators vs rebuilt rewound alts.
the major difference in power production is the fact that most rewound/rebuilt alts suffer on one end or the other to major degree.

Alternators like DC, mechman, Singer etc dont have that large of a sacrifice between peak and idle

I think the bigger issue is the people DO NOT LIST the actual specs. All they say is it is an xxx amp alternator. Or they say it is xxx peak. Or they do not list what it is at all, remanufacturer or else.

There's not much technology to a generator. A stator, rotor, and voltage regulator. Pretty standard equipment with technology from the 50s Ok maybe the new ones have Solid state regulators, still nothing worth $600 there.

    so opinions between:

mean green $399 200a (does not give output range)

    dc power $600 250a (hot max 230, idle 180, hot idle 170)

    mechman $399 240a
    [IMG]

versus staying with factory towing package alternator..

i will be going over to a dual battery setup in the spring...

    winch, lights, amp w/o sub...

Here is my take on the HO alternator issue now that I have taken a step back again to assess. In our application, having the dual battery's is enough. The strain on the 130a alernator should be minimal.

Then again I think this. If 1 battery is rated for the 130a alternator, 2 should be double. So that would be 260a.

From what i gather, the lower range at idle is the important numbers. With that, DC Power seems to be the only one that really put out the numbers and testing. Thats at a premium price point though. When I am able to, probably will get that DC Power. Odly enough, two days ago, i developed a squeek in the serpentine belt system somewhere.

so really if i were to upgrade alternators the mechman would be sufficient...

guess i can run the dual battery and see how they do and see if i need more juice to them or not...

Isn't there a mean green available for close to 400-500? I guy I know has one on his buggy and at idle the alternator can stall the truck after a lot of winching.
