Is this going on a 2nd gen? Are you using the 167 snorkel? Don't think I've seen anyone use the 167 snorkel on a tacoma after 04 or 4runner after 05, your fitment issues might be because this is intended for a 3.4l equipped hilux or essentially a 1st gen tacoma, the fender shape is totally different. If you get it mounted up please post pics, I got a buddy who might be interested if it works out.

There's a TON of people that have used the snorkel I'm using on the 2nd gen. Its the same as the Safari snorkel mod.

Is it a 167 snorkel, the same as the ones in this thread for a 3.4 liter or is it another model number? If it is a 167, that's awesome news, like I said, I know a friend or two who'd be interested

Nice! I have one sitting at home right now, just waiting to install it on my 99. This is so shitty of me, but I couldn't wait so I bought it a month ago, and my girlfriend thinks she's buying me it for Christmas.

Yes. @BeaverTaco has done it, as well as several others over in another thread that I can't seem to find right now.

Oh yeah. It works great. Just a little extra cutting but overall, not a bad job.

Should be, but I haven't personally done it on a 2nd gen. @BeaverTaco has though.

FYI - Ordering through Amazon brought this to my doorstep in 1-1/2 weeks - shipped out of City of Industry, CA

12/18/16 - got the snorkel installed.

Install went pretty smoothly. Should have invested in a new hole saw. Followed the instructions of the OP, I am pleased. Now, I need to see if there is any need to reinforce the rubber connector hosing, re collapsing. I'm not prone to heavy throttle, high RPM driving...

Just seeing this. Looks good! I'd at least test your hose. You don't want it collapsing in on you when you really need the acceleration with a semi bearing down on you

Thanks! So far, so good... Picked up a Donaldson 1249 prefilter the other day and working on matching the snorkel to the prefilter.

I've found at HD a 4"x2" DWV Flexible Coupling (SKU 861464) that is nearly perfect. The 4" fits the top of the snorkel perfectly. The 2" is a squoosh to small for the prefilter. I'm comfortable building up the the OD, but since it's a flexible material, it never really tightens up when you tighten the hose clamp.

Has anyone successfully adapted the Donaldson 1249 prefilter to these snorkels? and if so, how'd you do it?

I haven't heard of anyone using a prefilter on these.
    Thanks for sharing!
