Yes, they had solid front axles right through to early 2000 then changed over to IFS.

Truck porn! We like Aussie Hiluxes because in the U.S., 1985 was the last year for solid front axles, 1986 was the last year for diesel engines and we didn't get double-cabs until 2001. So when you show us photos of double cab solid axle and diesel Hiluxes, we cream our panties and then we get jealous. Plus, you guys also have 70-Series Landcruisers which are forbidden fruit in the U.S. It's not fair!

Lots of Land Cruisers here in the US but no Prado. We didn't get any diesel cruisers and we did not get any of the 70 series trucks. We got 40s, 55s, 60s, 62s, 80s, 100s, 200s.

Land Cruisers Direct is a US company that has started importing diesel cruisers that are over the 30 year import limits. So there are some BJ and HJ trucks as well as Hiluxs starting to show up in the states now. Mostly BJ70s and HJ61s

Thanks for the info, here in Australia I can't think of any new 4x4 regardless of make that doesn't offer a diesel.

Off subject, Next year I'm taking a trip to the states for three months to visit my birth country (Uruguay) Left South America in 1976 and have never been back.

Then heading north to take the kids to Disney Land and hopefully visit the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls, Hoover dam etc.

I love that sort of thing.

Can you guy's recommened any must see attractions especially for the kids and what time of year to visit.

I was thinking spring or summer.

Hopefully Uruguay plays better the next round of the world cup.lol.

    Thanks for any advice given.

    Cheers.

Not true! Depends on the driver and how fast they wanna hit it. Id bet on a fully built prerunner getting further than a stock 4x4 9times out of 10 with the right driver
