i had a 2004 toyota 4runner for 7.5 years, bought it with 135,000 miles, sold it with 177,000 to coworker for $3,500 (for a decade+, still, i work 5 mins from my house, luckily). had white knuckle sliders, tall skinny 33s, oem fj wheels, bilstein 5100 with OME lift springs. was a wonderful truck. almost installed victory4x4 hybrid front bumper with warn winch but i sold them before install when 2020 economy fell out and i kind of stopped wheeling then. had build thread on t4r.org



fast forward
had thrown a few grand at the 21 year old 4runner (ac condenser, rear of exhaust, she had a valve cover leak) and i wanted something better for the family and rekindle offroading, exploring, camping with the family, getting away from wide glide, harley scene too

and now i have a 1.5 year old baby
busy working in acocunting dept for a marine hydraulics company
where i have access to wholesale metals accounts, we employ fabricators and mechanics, welders, its kind of sweet i get auto parts, metals, welders, etc at cost here

bought this 2015 trd offroad with 87,000 miles, had it shipped up via carmax from AZ title to MA, pretty damn clean, now i fluid filmed the entire underside and we garage our vehicles thank goodness

 

here is how i saw this on the lot when i shipped it up here, and now like i mentioned i put 6 cans of fluid film on it

i had done my research and theres plenty of room for them back there
i went from a t4r to tacoma doublecab so i had to make sure
1/2 breaker bar with lug 21mm attached and trail saw along bottom

 

1320 bed stiffeners from ebay, total chaos knockoffs but super solid and maybe picked up by a bigger name recently I read

I fit them up minus the drilling for 3 more bolts each side I have to pop the taillights out for those, but got workout in amd this far and nice fitment, the second gens need the trim or washers btw

Finished the 6 bolts vertical bolts for the 1320 stiffeners, the top bolt under the metal flange out of view was a lot of fun, and I decided to extend breather was since I had taillight off. Forgot shot of oem new valve but I went thru the bottom hole so it was more vertical to better function. Threaded in frame rail and clipped up to a wire harness.

Real feel zero, walked 5 mins and turned around even the dog was like f this
And bundled 1.5 year old was all for continuing but had to use my judgment

Actually nice spot in one of 13 cupholders, base expands tight and 3 pivot points, out of way of dog up forward and my large 6'3 arms on console. Dog can jump out back too

 

Jumped on a sale for these weize molded floor liners...perfect for the winter we get and quality and fit are on point

Quick wax, was driving over salt mounded roads recently. Looked like 4" of snow, nope all salt piles in MA, but it was zero*

 

Something I saw in passing here I put these Amazon hardware on my bed cubby bolts. Big torx I messed two up but had two pretty good match luckily



I did all four on passenger side and top two on drivers. 2 gallon eagle gas tank strapped now.



We have gnarly winters here so I'm glad w the bed matt and all this locked up secure to bed feeling like she's dialed for awhile and added traction w bed weight (100lbs maybe)

 

Overhead molle, hooke offroad, nice fit and piece of metal. I used the baby seat to hold up opposite side for install

ended up extending ac drip line
it only went so-so...
dropped fender liner from top two clips (left my wheel on, im sure that didnt help)

also access from engine bay (i ended up securing zip ties from the top, carefully)
and routing somewhat straight down the reclipped fender liner

gonna have to keep an eye on where shes dripping and my zip tie job
still glad i did it though and the hose i acquired was a lot more flexible than i thought
was expecting garden hose material, but is way softer

Love the blue color and the stock look you have here. Awesome seats too! 2015 might just be the single best year for these trucks.

 

THANK you. i want to wear the tires down a bit before i do suspension and wheels down the road
i can appreciate clean/stock style look, will try to maintain that even when i mod it more

regarding 2015, for sure. went from the 2004 4.0 t4r to the 2015 taco, almost like the first and last of a generation



sprayed my MAF sensor and slight throttlebody cleaning the other day and i highly recommend it
truck runs better now, it had a slight choke in first gear and that is gone with the cleaning
