Was it bottoming out in the front, back or both? You probably need stiffer springs (700 lbs) in the front and different (or more) leaf springs in the back. While you are at it, get different shocks (Bilsteins 5100) and lift it a couple of inches (they are adjustable). The stock shocks on the Sport are not really that good. Skid plates, bumpers and winches add a lot of weight.

Bottomed out on the rear. Wouldn't stiffer shocks do the trick? Don't have no winches on her...yet. anything to watch for on ebay on bilsteins 5100's that are being sold?

In general, shocks are primarily used to control movement of the suspension (rebound speed, oscillation, ect.) and the suspension handles the load in your bed. So you should consider getting an add-a-leaf or heavy-duty leaf springs to prevent your truck from bottoming out. You could use a heavier-duty shock to help with the bottoming out issue, but this is not the intended function of the shock.

Going to a heavier leaf spring in the back would help, but you need to see if it's going to lift the back. In that case you may need to go to adjustable shocks to level the front, and the Bilsteins 5100s are probably the least expensive way of doing that. Different models will adjust up to 3". ReloadX is right, the shocks will not help in bottoming out.

My new 2017 sport does not handle as good as my previous 2006 sport. What a shame! Anyone have knowledge on a sportier upgrade for suspension/shocks. Most people here upgrade for off-road purposes. Maybe a link to an existing thread would be cool too. Couldn't find anything. Thanks!

I like the ride and performance handling of the 6112/5160 suspension combo. See the link in my Sig below for a write up on it.

    all tore up already
Like smitty i also recommend the 6112/5160. I started out not looking to lift my truck so i did fronts on bottom clip and just rear shocks. Made the truck ride oh so nice. Later i did aal and cranked the front up and still rides nice but not quite as sporty as it was because the body lean is more with a taller truck. I bet 6112/5160 on low clip and a rear sway bar would really make it handle like a sport pickup

LED lamps, tinted windows, black letter tailgate, rear sway, thinking about step bar
I just ordered a rear sway bar for my Limited. Hope to get it done as soon as it gets here. Hoping it resolves the same issue you're having with the sport. I thought the sport came with one factory? I have Hitachi shocks also.
