That's not entirely accurate - it works perfectly with my 6MT key. I'm not sure if the key is different on the automatics as I know they have keyless unlock and push button start, but I have the BOLT receiver lock and it works fine with mine and I've been very happy with it.

Found one at Walmart, 3+1/2 inches long which worked. Most of this size they had were missing the keys. Guessing someone lost their keys and tried stealing some.

I thought hitch pin locks were a great idea until.....

I went to switch the tongue after a season or two of being installed and it was corroded and key wouldn't go in.
I backed up my truck to my trailer and "missed" trailer tongue smoked the lock end of the pin and once again couldn't get it off.

They are not the perfect solution. They can work well but have their issues.

I store my ball mounts and locks until I need them, which is not daily.

I had the same issue. The same pin that worked on my 07 Tundra was too short for my 17 Tacoma

Look up silent hitch pin...it tightens everything up at the hitch. No more annoying hitch pin.

    My 2017 TRD Sport required a 3 1/2" hitch pin . . . . . . the 3" pin was too tight/short

Thanks for the input guys. Went to use my lock from my previous truck today and surprise surprise it didn't fit. Will check out the 3.5" locking pins suggested.

Do you have a center cut key? The bolt lock works for you?

Nope the 6MT key is not center cut. Is the automatic?

Yup, both the key fob valet key and the tailgate lock key are center cut

It’s 5/8 diameter. And 3 inches long. Look closely- get the longer one.

Wondering if there has been any more input on this. A bolt vendor told me it will work with a center cut key but I’m afraid to open it and attempt to key it and not be eligible for a return. What scares me is that GMC and Ford has center cut key models while Toyota only has one for the side cut keys.

No, I'm sorry. I just kind of gave up hope, lol.

I'd check the return policy from where you purchased it. If it was from Amazon, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you do decide to try it, please let me know if it worked!

Well, it’s official that it doesn’t work with the newer center cut keys. See response:

Thank you for your interest in BOLT Lock. We currently do not have any locks compatible with the Toyota Center Cut keys. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Guess I’ll return it back to Cabelas...

I was just going to update this too, I emailed BOLT and they said "Thank you for contacting BOLT Lock. We currently do not have any locks for the Toyota Center Cut keys. Our engineers are always working to improve the locks and adapt to new key cuts.

    Thank you,"

    Casey Seidl
    Marketing Intern

So I guess maybe in the future they will offer it. They have them (center cut key locks) for Jeep and GM
