Ok so I find this interesting. While shopping for a trailer, I decided to put some of the payload info into a spreadsheet. As has been said many times here, payload is the issue. I was surprised at how close to the truck's GVWR we can get even with a light trailer. I know fully what to expect when towing with my truck but these numbers are interesting. I used my truck's specs and calculated tongue weight at the minimum safe amount of 10% of trailer GVWR. So what do you think, does this check out ?

Looks legit, at least as far as an estimate. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if the truck's actual available payload is less than what you have on the door sticker. That doesn't take into consideration any accessories added after it leaves the factory, so make sure you consider that. I remember mine had 950 lbs payload on the sticker but in reality only had about 890 lbs.

I’m not 100% convinced that the entire weight of the WDH counts towards tongue weight. From a physics perspective it doesn’t make sense. A portion of it has to be on the trailer axles.
