Hello, so recently had to move out to Guam and originally thought I would keep my tacoma back in the states so I had a relatively new truck when I came back. However, after being here for a few months I want my truck back. Already understand how to ship it out here as its not that difficult since I still have a POV shipment that I havent used. The part that Im not too sure of is how to keep the frame from rotting away once it is out here. I know to keep it washed but what other linings and treatments would you guys recommend? Thanks for any info!

Would just painting where I can see be enough or should I be expecting to have some extensive work done inorder to really get a good seal. Guam has tons of rain and really salty air just like any other tropical island

I would say fluid film on the inside and outside of the frame would be your best bet, check with the locals to see what they do to prevent rust.

How long are you going to be there?

Do like we used to do when in Guam. Buy a Guam Bomb and drive that. When you are ready to leave gift it to some other poor soul.

I wouldn't even go that crazy with the fluid flim. Do the boxed portion of the frame and get under it and wash it and treat any surface rust you see. Guam isn't that bad, not anywhere as bad as rock salt in the northern winters.

I just wash my undercarriage with a pressure washer once a week.

4 years? You act like its a life sentence. You are over reacting. Ive got 2 suggestions. 1) Ziebart the undercarriage 2) just wash it routinely.
Do they cover a POV move back if you PCS/ETS? You will more than likely be leaving your truck there. Dont stress it. Enjoy the Islands.

Bajatacoma mentioned Eastwood. They make a lot of good products including a spray on rust converter which you spray on rust and it makes it a paintable surface. I have not used it but I hear it works. http://www.eastwood.com/ew-rust-converter-new-formula-aerosol.html

Obviously this is good for already rusted parts (backup to your scenario) but they make similar products for undercoating. I use a 3M undercoating on my trailers when I build them and that has held up well. Stay away from cheap coatings is all I can say.
