Sorry a single gang box is the box that houses the receptical, giving you 2 places to plug into.

so you have half of an outlet switched and half constantly hot (half hot)...have you pulled this disposal plug out to look at it? there are two screws each for the hot and neutral side. With a half hot, you want to make sure the tab it cut on the hot side so the two screws are seperate. It's hard to explain but I'll try to find a picture. If that tab isn't cut that, it's another possibility to what's causing that GFI to trip

it's likely a 3-wire to the under sink receptacle, so if the neutral was loose the dishwasher would also trip the gfi.

if the tab wasn't removed both outlets of the receptacle would always be hot, so as soon as the disposal was plugged in it would turn on or trip the gfi, even when the switch is in the off position.

this is true. regardless...I would double check that the tab is cut correctly.

here's an example of the tab that would need to be cut.

just on the side with brass screws, correct?

and is it a 3-wire (black, red, white) in the under sink receptacle?

The dishwasher and my phone charger, both tripped the gfci outlet.

I'm not saying this is the 100% guarenteed solution, but try replacing the under sink receptacle, they're less than $1. the dishwasher would trip the gfi regardless of which outlet it was plugged into if the issue was the gfi receptacle as both outlets under the sink are protected by the same gfi.

The constant hot could be its own circuit not being fed by the gfi

very true, could and should be. the disposal shouldn't be on the same circuit as counter plugs, but it is what it is. it's tough to diagnose over the internet.

are both outlets under the sink dead when the gfi trips?

Is this GFCI outlet plugged into a GFCI circuit breaker? If so that could cause this problem.

I think its all on one circuit; its all on one breaker. And yes both go dead.

Not sure how to tell, but looking at the breaker, I don't think so.

GFI breakers have a test button on the breaker.

from the info given I would say the under sink receptacle is the issue. my suggestion is that you replace the under sink receptacle (remember to remove the tab between the 2 brass screws).
