Looking for recommendations on a home security set up.

    Requirements:

    • Outdoor
    • Preferably wireless with solar charge ability
    • No subscription. Maybe ultra cheap subscription if necessary
    • Work in extreme cold
    • Not wildly expensive
    • Ideally be able to monitor three different properties at once

Anyone have any recommendations? There's so many choices. Some get great reviews but then have a small but noticeable amount of terrible reviews.

Just starting to scratch the surface with this so any info is helpful

Cheap as hell. No subscription. No accusations of data mining/spying (yet). Will send notifications to your phone. Decent picture. Can control PTZ remotely. Has options for solar.

Downsides: need to go through setup every time your router loses power. Will ping your phone incessantly with every shadow and bug that flies by.

That's a pretty serious downside if I'm using it for three properties. One being a short term rental. The other is about a 30km drive to a rural property . Not too keen on getting a ton of useless alerts and needing to drive just to reset anything.

I should also say while I don't want to pay a ton I'm willing to shell out for a decent product. Not necessarily looking for crazy cheap unless it's also a useable product.

I have a fancy wireless set with dual antennas and it would drop signal all the time barely 100ft. I'd recommend hardwiring or having small stations at each point depending on what your set up is.

I don't care, I use them as a visual deterrent. They work most of the time.

Most of the cameras on Amazon, like mine, have god awful software that is a pain to use.

I just bought an Arlo Go 2 (WiFi and LTE)to watch my garage, I live in an apartment complex and my garage is in another building, so wifi was out. The camera has a sim card slot so it runs on my T-Mobile plan.
It basically acts as a motion detector and when it senses motion, it records. It sends the video to the cloud and alerts my phone.
I researched so many different cameras and systems and Arlo seems to suit my situation the best. Arlo Secure is the subscription plan which is $2.99 a month and it comes with a 3 month free trial.
its fully wireless, has a large battery that only needs to be charged or hotswapped every 3 months.
you can get the solar panel accessory and not have to charge at all.
