yah probably not the best starter bike. i know guys shorter than you that ride 450's. just need to get softer springs so it sags a bit more. there is also a rear shock linkage that lowers the rear of the bike that you could get too.

a crf230 would probably be fast enough if you are just beginning to ride. being geared toward beginners, it will be considerable slower that a race model crf250 though. the hight of that bike would probably be just right for you. if you are wanting to get into motocross though the suspension will be way to soft. jmo. best of luck finding a bike!

depends what you plan on doing with the bike? Motocross, trails/woods, or just messin around the campground? Won't do very well in motocross, trails/woods should be ok depending how hard you gonna run it, and around the campground its hella fun to mess around doing wheelies on. To be honest you should try looking into getting a 250f (yz250f or crf250), these bikes will create a nice learning curve and you wont outgrow it as fast as you would the crf230

you should fit on a 250f. if it is a bit tall you can get softer springs so it will sit lower when you get on it.

Dont get a crf230. My buddy did a while back. He was in the same situation as you. He grew out of it in a few weeks. You will lose money. get a 250f
