Gray frame. Thought about the orange but wasn’t sure how close it was to the inferno. Played it safe.

@rkam65 installed this a month or so back for a gps. Far as I know she’s been pretty happy with it. Maybe she’ll chime in or share a picture or two....

Yeah, I am not sure if it is officially open or not. If not, then we will just do some of the forest roads. I am mainly just trying to test the truck as I decide the direction I want to take the build. I dont see why you couldnt join us, join Yotalex Georgia Offroad Group page on Facebook to keep up and see about other trips as well.

I found that the North Face Dolomite Double sleeping bag with Synthetic Insulation and a fleece sheet has been great on some pretty cold nights with my lady. Plenty of room to move around and I think it could be a perfect size, fit and loft to leave in the tent portion of the GFC. Won't know until I get my top in the spring though. We'll see. Its Super comfy none-the-less and packs up into a stuff sack which is 13 x 24 inches. Not as light as down but for $160 its an easy purchase. Available online at REI. My issue will be pillows .... my lady loves pillows.

I will check it out, fitting anything upstairs in the GFC when closed will be tough. I will look forward to your feedback when you get the GFC.

We take 2 full size pillows but I need to find a better solution.

We have a Teton double sleeping bag we used to keep in our rtt. I’m not excited about the idea of having to pack that up every morning. I’m hoping a down comforter can take the place of that and hopefully be able to live in the gfc, or at least be easier to pack up and much smaller.

With a cargo net attached under near the front of the bed, we were able to drop all the sleeping bags and pillows easily by lifting one of the squares(config with both removable squares on one side). We could usually clear out the sleeping area within a few mins.

Thanks again @ace7196, good to meet you guys! And good feedback on last night's conditions, being here in the mountains makes for tough winter camping. But I'd take that over closing up a frozen rtt in sub freezing temps any day.

There’s dozens of us... DOZENS!

Thanks for the tip. Will pick some of these up.

Thanks man! Appreciate all the tips.

Decided on black panels and grey frame. The color samples that the GFC team sent out helped a ton. The decision was easy once I had them out by the truck. With all the black plastic trim these modern trucks have, it just makes sense.

I would love to do a color match, but I don’t know how close they’d get. Plus it is a $500 option per component set, which is more than I’d like to pay.

Super stoked to be in the build process! Really loving the help and support from this community. Wish there was a Colorado owners forum that was this active.

    Cheers!

Don't know if there are any cement/black combos but I photoshopped my truck with the black GFC - Might help someone make a decision. It's a second gen though and the color is just a touch different, but close enough to get the idea.

So it was windy here in sunny San Diego, only about 20mph but was changing directions quickly. I did notice that wind was blowing around in the camper which was strange. It turns of that when the wind blows against one of the side windows, the wind can be deflected upwards then blow into the camper. There are no zipper or buttons to keep the top of the window flap closed. Anyone see this yet? I’m trying to find a solution to keep the cold breezes out.

The window is down in the picture, it’s just an example. The red lines are the zippers, the blue is the path of wind.

Curious at how a forced air heater would work in the GFC where the top is effectively sealed from air flow from the bottom. I’m sure it would work, probably just need to remove a floor section to get it to circulate. I’ in the process of purchasing a proper/diesel heater, just need to see my new drawer setup before I drop the cash. Until then, buddy heater it is. Works, just not the greatest.
