hood air scoops

very curious: do those front hood air scoops on some of the tacos actually Do anything???

 

They make people want to swap with others for plain hood.....and vice versa

 

Only if you're an Army Ranger w/ 6 engineering degrees and $8500 in your money clip.

Plenty of people with and without skewpz wanting to trade for whatever reason are not Army Rangers with any degrees or a fat money clip.

When I didn't have the skewp on my taco I parked it nose in for my 16 TRd OR

Now that I have the scoop, I back it in parking spaces so I feel superior human being when I walk up to it

I do the same with my other skeweped rides (2011 mazdaspeed3 and 2016 wrx)

For looks just like many other things. Mocking them is just as dumb as mocking
someone with different wheels, tires, grilles, bumpers, etc... most ppl likely have no
need for it but it looks good.

that it is man! never understood all the scoop-hate bs, don't like it, get
the OR or the Limited. I've always dug the look of it, had it on the
2011 I traded in too. The plain hood just isn't for me but I guess that's
why they offer different versions......who'd of thunk it.

 

I think people were referring to the thread about the guy who wanted to cut a hole in the airbox and route it to a hole in the hood to make the hood scoop into a ram air style.

Stock fake scoops are fine, they are what they are. In reality though, toyota engineers designed them to be non functional because it would mess up the airflow from the large grill.

 

I never owned a Tacoma with scoop before. Non functional mod isn't my cup of tea. However, doesn't mean I hated on guys who had it. Whatever, I don't pay for their truck

When cement Pro came out, I had to have it since I missed out on second gen Pro. As a result, it came with hood, so even though I didn't want it, the hood is the part of me wanting the rest of the truck

Makes no difference to me in daily driving since I had 16 OR no scoop and 17 Pro with scoop
