I will get a pic of the switch and where I mounted it in my Tacoma. I will have to check into the aftermarket switches that are direct fit for the blank spots on the Tacoma dash. Its possible that the Rigid harness may connect right to them.

I was almost ready to trade my scoop for a non-scoop hood. Figured the hood looks too plain without it though. So maybe I could make it useful for something, such as LEDs. Wasn't sure how I would mount them or if any would even fit. Short time later this thread pops up. Guess it was meant to be.

haha I guess it is meant to be! I have brackets with hardware available now. If you need a complete kit with LED bar included, it will take about 3-4 extra days for me to get the light in so I can ship it with the kit.

How much would that cost, and do the LEDs come in amber?

Right now the complete mounting bracket kit with hardware and a Rigid 10" single row light is 295.00 plus shipping. That is for a black powdercoated bracket. Raw aluminum bracket is 10 bucks less. The Rigid light comes with complete wiring harness and switch. The light comes in spot, flood, or spot/flood combo pattern and any of those patterns also come in amber.

So by combo, each bar contains separate spot and flood lights, or the light output of the bar in general is a combo of spot and flood?

if you buy a "combo" lightbar it will have both the spot and flood patterns in the same light. So on a single row 10" Rigid bar there are 10 individual LED's in a row behind the lens. So for instance (not 100% sure if this is exactly how the Rigid bar is) 4 of the LED's in the middle of the light would have the spot pattern, then the 6 remaining LED's on the outside (3 on each side of the center 4) will have the flood pattern.

I've been interested in this mod ever since i saw it here. You did a great job on this Caleb, but i'm wondering if you could outline a little more the benefits of your kit as opposed to using basic hardware like rkfoote did

I just thought of a guy I know that has a +11 Tacoma, not sure if it has a scoop, but I will find out. he would probly let me use it to design another kit.
I'm in South Dakota, so I cant use your hood, but thanks for the offer!

Thank you! I had not seen anyone else do this mod until you posted the link. This is something I thought of the first day we bought our 05 Tacoma and wanted to figure something out asap.

I looked through rkfoote's write up real quick. The main benefit that I can see going with my product is that the bracket will be much more strong and secure than the way rkfoote's is setup. His idea is a good one for sure and is also a simple way to mount the light, but the long fasteners you have to use to reach the holes that already exist in the hood could cause the light to not be as stable and move side to side in the scoop. I don't know about you, but wiggly lights drive me nuts while driving!
Another benefit is the fact that my kit is all inclusive with Stainless hardware, screws to put the scoop mesh back together and hooks to hold the wiring in place. Its nice to be able to receive your kit with everything in it and ready to go. Plus the bracket just looks cool mounted under the hood!:D

Thanks for the explanation Caleb! I'm glad to see you were able to keep the mesh intact, it's a much cleaner look in my opinion. This mod is definitely on my to do list and I'll hit you up when I'm ready for it!

That's what I thought. I guess what I was asking if they can be controlled separately?
