i am now the proud owner of a cabonfiber hood with a scoop molded in.i'll have it on this weekend.i got a question the scoop is open allowing air(and anything else that comes its way)to the motor.are the factory ones open or blocked off.i know that the scoop probably has no effect on the motor.would it be in my best interest to some how plug this thing up?

Yea the factory scoop is blocked. Services no purpose but to look cool. I know that a few members have rigged something up to make it a functional scoop.

From what I've read, the aerodynamics make it so the scoop sucks air out - not sucks air in. It's useless unless you want to install chasing red LEDs and talk to your truck using your casio wristwatch.

I'm also the proud new owner of a scooped hood. At the body shop now. Taking my mirrors and grille off tomorrow at work and bringing them there too. The shop's right down the street from my dealership.

The motor is more or less sealed except thru the intake from the fender well and out the exhaust...Your engine compartment will get dirty...Not something I'd want to do...but I don't think it'll hurt your engine at all.

Yeah...The engine has that plastic cover over it. And you won't get a ton of stuff in there...I don't think.

    but that's personal opinion...

You could run some fine screen or mesh in there to keep big stuff out of there or if you got skills you could fiberglass over the inside of the hole and paint it black. :notsure:

Ya probably wouldn't cost too much to have a shop glass it and it would look cooler the more you recessed the glass towards the back of the hood.

You could put some patio screen behind that if you wanted to keep the bugs out too.
