I would love one for the roof, possibly with an optional sunroof cutout.

This is really neat. Personally I think I would like one on the roof.

Are you able to drive around with the solar panel installed?

I've had the panel installed since June. So yes, it's a semi-permanent installation.

Awesome. I should have read on the website first. I’ve always wanted a solar panel molded into the motor cover on my bass boat.

Hope your using a good solar controller that reads the battery voltage as well and shuts off. Also it should be noted that you should not be running this on a saccessories useoff the starter battery even if you have the solar panels hooked up.

What is the reasoning for it to be on the hood vs the roof?

It would work out nice for me since I have a sun roof. I am guessing it would similarly benefit people that have loaded roof racks.

Because many people have sunroofs, racks, tents etc on the roof's. Vehicles hood's are generally unused wasted space :yay:

We sure do. We include a waterproof MPPT smart charge controller with each of our kits that has battery cut off's programmed into it to prevent overcharging. :)

Cool idea, speaking of which how does it handle the heat of being mounted on the hood?
