Hello gentlemen. Im new here and also new in the tacoma world. I just recently purchased a 2021 tacoma cement trd off road and i love it. I want to swap the hood with someone but they are saying that they are scared to give me their hood scoop (trd sport) for my flat one. He said because people were saying that if he gets the flat one then he may get a flutter issue? Is there any truth to that?

He’s talking about some hoods don’t have enough adhesive and the flat part of the hood flutters a little bit in the wind at highway speed. There was a TSB a few years ago about it, they just put more glue on the hood to fix it

Ask him to take a ride in your truck and verify there's no flutter. :notsure:

The skewp is a handicap off road though. I went to a fiberglass hood for weight savings. I'm now very reliant on my front camera on the trails.

LoL there's 50 pages of people who would disagree. It's hit or miss if your dealer will fix it, or fix it correctly. For about $50 bucks you can DIY it yourself with the proper 3M foam adhesive.

Correct for the flat hoods. Most are good, some are bad. I had the TSB done for it, but I don't think the body shop the dealer gave it to did a good job at all, The adhesive, for me, is already separating again.

I just recently had this issue and was fixed by Toyota under warranty. Sent truck to a body shop to remove and apply new adhesive. Seems ok 1 month later
