There is no direction from corporate as I understand it other than 'send it out'. Body shops have to make money...

I asked about the repair agent. "Black stuff..."
They did go into how vehicles with hood liners don't have this problem.
    The conversation was...enlightening. lol
They did say a replacement hood might be the only solution.

When I went and looked at new Tacomas Wednesday, I popped the hood in front of the sales guy and we checked it out together. I've got the Sport and we didn't really notice any defects on mine. I haven't been driving around much either since I've only had it for two days. Time will tell I guess. For those that are having issues, just give them a call and drop it off. There is no reason to get all bent out of shape about it. Some of you guys are just making a big deal over something so small. It's a new car. Yes you paid "premium" dollars as you say. I understand all that, but being an ass about things and to the dealership who had nothing to do with the assembly gets you no where. Just explain the situation and get it fixed. Simple and done. Some people these days just have to make everything about them and get all crazy over things.

    /rant

Maybe mine will stay fixed and it was just a bad batch. Oh, and it was a Mexico build if anybody is wondering.

this is my standpoint...I was mad they tried to give it back to me and it was dented, but other than that I don't care, they'll fix it...because they have to, it's not a huge issue to me, I have 3 other cars I can drive in the meantime.

I think mine is a Texas build, and so I think that's why yours is good to go and will probably never experience a failure....Mine failed before I took delivery, they have checked several other trucks on their lot since I brought mine in and found several others with failures, and some that are good

I hate on none of the players; just the game.
It costs me time/money to deal with trivial repair issues. The "premium" cost meter keeps on ticking.

Did you happen to notice how many miles were on it when it started failing? I'm still under 200 so I don't know if over time it will or not. I'm hoping not but you never know. I don't know if over the miles and bumps is when it fails or if it just straight up fails as its curing.

hating on the game is one thing, but for these people who go to the dealership and huff and puff aren't getting anything done. It's sad to see grown people act like children some days and going to dealerships they didn't even buy the truck from.

0 miles.....the first time I got up to 60mph I could see the hood vibrating....what I'm saying is they have brand new trucks on the lot, not yet sold, never driven, with failed adhesive...they are being shipped from the factory already failed, OR, they are failing in transit.

ah gotcha. Sorry to hear that. It's interesting to see what models/batches are failing and which ones aren't.

I agree with what you're saying. Time is valuable. What I was referring too were the ones who have the slightest, minor annoyance or issue and they start shouting out threats of lawsuits and things of the like. There's no sense in that. Time is important and just explaining what is going on to the dealer will get people a lot further.

Yes, I've got the sport so the scoop seems to be helping out from what I've seen on others. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it starts to change.

Exactly. You can be both "aggressive" while respectful without flying off the deep end. It seems to be happening a lot now a days. Not just on this forum, but all places people are starting to be like that. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Yes sometimes you need to make a point but there are way better ways to do it.

That sums it up pretty good. I still agree with what you're saying and yes we should expect a timely fix, people just need to slow their roll a little bit. It seems like every day new threads are being started and people are bashing as hard as they can on issues or features they knew about, yes they knew about some of these, but still come up here and complain as hard as they can demanding Toyota to fix or change. Anyway, to stay on topic, I'm curious if any Sport owners are seeing this. I didn't go back and read every post again, but I can't remember if any are having the problem.

At least that is some good news. I wonder if it's just the difference in the shape of the hood, or maybe they used a different adhesive.

Its in your warranty. If they need to keep your vehicle for more than a day you get a loaner. Find the statement in your warranty, show it to your dealer.

Off Topic: How did you like your experience at Autonation? I've been talking with them about the 2016. Would you recommend them?

I would recommend them. I worked with Nassir Amhed and he did a great job and even got my truck with specific options with $0 down.

I'm still torn on waiting 3 months on delivery. Might as well just wait for the 2017 models. Thanks for your help!
