Back to the topic. Not a Gen 3 owner but am considering buying one. My wife has a late July 2015 Off Road. It has the same adhesive problem as the Gen 3's. I'll be following this thread for a while to see how the "official " fix works before I take her truck in and do any further consideration of buying a Gen 3 for myself. (Besides that I want to see how the Gen 3 motor actually performs.)

Not everyone has the adhesive issue, seems to be a few unfortunately individuals.. I have no issues with mine.. I think part of the problem with initial underwhelming test drives break in period and the transmission needs to learn your driving habits.. You need to be aggressive when gassing and it will become more responsive and open up when the engine breaks in...

Just thought i'd add to this thread. I'm also having the adhesive issue. I'm not sure since i have the sport and there is more support on the hood from the "scoop" but i haven't noticed any vibrating even on the freeway but i did look under the hood and almost all of it is broken off of the adhesive. Anybody have any recommendations yet?

2016tacoRN - Take it straight to your dealer and file a warranty claim. They have to fix it. The more claims the more Toyota will be looking for a permanent fix. Just my suggestion.

dropped mine off this morning. Service guy just called and said Toyota was aware of the situation and has a recommended repair which requires them to hand the truck off to the collision center and keep it for a day so they can re-bond the hood. I am supposed to be able to pick it up tomorrow.

    Got mine back just now.
    Took them about two hours.
    They spec 3M-08463 flexible foam.

I really didn't want them trying to repair the old stuff and was skeptical they could do so without 'damage'. The body shop agreed.
So, this is what was decided in my case; between the body shop, Toyota rep, and myself.
    Solid as a rock now.

Do you notice any changes in the smoothness of the outer skin? When you get a chance maybe spray it with water and see if there's any low spots.

Did they seal completely around the circles or just what we can see?

Lastly, if yours did, is the visible vibrations while driving gone?

I talked to my dealerships maintenance today and they were clueless and don't even want tool ok at it until my next service. They don't have a body shop so I may research other somewhat local dealers for repair.

    Thank for posting the pictures.

Maybe you can get some king of grey flexible paint or something to cover over the white.

I would be pissed if that's my fix. I don't want to see the fix. I know its under the hood and all, but that looks like crap. They will buy me a new hood before I accept something like that.

No change at all. I voiced my concern to the body shop guy beforehand; even related the story from this thread about a dented hood, cure times, etc.
My body shop guy was cool. He even called me on my way home.
He even thought to test the foam before jumping in. It expands a lot and is way more rigid.
I still think the 3M-04274 NVH dampening product I posted earlier in this thread is the more appropriate material.
    Anyway...

It's hard to tell, did they go all the way around the seam (circle)? If so, what's the difference between the whiter part to the part that's more of a yellow color.

The white part is the foam; the yellow is lack of paint from the brace being in the way.
The 'plan' was to go down the main braces some too.
My body shop guy called me at this point because he thought it was gtg. I agreed.

If mine doesn't look and perform as it should from the factory, I will insist on a new hood. This is a $40,000 vehicle after all. I'll post my results tomorrow.

Finally got my truck back from the dealership to fix a thread so I can finish up mounting side steps. The dealership said no issues with my hood, but they did log it with Toyota for any potential recalls down the road. So happy to have the beast back!

I highly agree. The Tacoma should arrive to you looking the way it was designed.
