The color on my truck is White/Gray almost like used chewing gum....it is soft and squishy to the touch but not tacky. It is not separating but the truck is only about a month old so who knows.

Welp, for the third time I was told that it would not be fixed at the service center. They told me that there are no other known cases of this, and that the hood flex is still normal regardless of the condition of the dampening material. "Toyota says not to do any repair at this time." Are they lying to me or?

Show them this thread. I'm sure that would change their tune pretty quick, especially if you call Toyota Customer Service and tell them whats going on and reference this thread as well, since other dealerships seem to be aware of the problem.

Yeah, I was going to do so. I found it hard to believe with the amount of complaints here, that there are no other cases open with Toyota about this.

It may not be so much "showing" that others are complaining of the same issue but the challenge proving the detriment of the adhesive failure. So if the hood paint starts to crack and flake off, or if you tell them to take a ride with you to show how erratically the hood is vibrating on the freeway maybe then you can convince them it is an issue. :notsure:

I suspected as much; 'glue it and go'.
In this video, 3M describes the application of the adhesive that was used to do my repair.
Note what he says at 3:33.

Called Toyota customer care today. They are going to have someone call me back by close of business tomorrow. Would love it if they decided to give me a new hood. Then, maybe I could convince them to send me a sport hood instead. I would be willing to pay for the paint job.

I made an account just to post in this thread.

I have contacted Toyota Customer Service to voice my hood vibration/adhesive problem and whatever lady I spoke was 100% clueless to anything car related. She basically repeated one line "take it to the dealer" over and over, I have no clue who it was sounded like a secretary but it was a complete waste of time.
Anyways they don't give two shits about us linking the information or problems shown here. I've already done it... believe me. Best thing to do is just call toyota 800-331-4331 and register a case with them for this exact incident. We will all have to take our vehicles to a dealer to get some sort of OEM fix.

Here is my correspondence by email with them. I actually link this thread and I believe the 2015 Tacoma hood adhesive thread.

I don't understand why some people want new hoods. It is an adhesive issue, let them replace the adhesive instead of driving up the cost of vehicles by having a totally unnecessary replacement. Now, if they screw up the hood while removing the old adhesive, or in some other manner, then it should be replaced, but not just 'because'.

Hey I'd be thrilled if they (toyota) just admit it they had some bad batch adhesive on some vehicles, and I could drop off my truck off at the dealer and have it fixed over the weekend and pick it up with new proper adhesive... I could easily drive this one for another 10 years.

What's interesting is that they are claiming ignorance with some and jumping right on others. I would have thought there was a more central database on dealing with this kind of stuff. I think I would DIY it at this point if you can confirm the right product.

I haven't seen anything that Toyota has done that would guarantee a new hood wouldn't have the same problem.

Bought TRD OR October 17, 4,200 miles. Made in Mexico. Adhesive under hood still looks good. Maybe different climates are affecting the adhesive differently. I'm in south MS.
