Traded the truck in on a f150. I was never going to be happy with it.

This person used Liquid Nails all over his hood. He stated in a later post that it is holding.

I am the guy that used it . It has been over 2 weeks now and it was per to the label , fully cured at 7 days. I painted it and it looks ok. I worried it would expand and deform the hood and it did not . I have NO more vibrating of the hood and am very happy. The test will be over winter and colder temps to see if it deforms at all .
The label says it remains flexible so we will see. At least I do not see the damn hood flopping any more.I no longer have it ticking me off and can keep my eyes on the road instead of the hood dance.

"Normal"? The Mazda fix looks interesting. Urethane, not epoxy, and flexible.
"NVH Damping Material 04274 is a flexible adhesive-type material used to reduce noise and vibration between panels where a long work time is required. NVH Dampening Material can be applied between roof skins and roof bows, door skins and door intrusion beams or other areas using non-structural type foam materials, providing up to 1” thick layer of flexible material on vertical and overhead applications."

I'm NVH'ing mine this weekend. Borrowing a gun so I don't have to buy one. Hope it turns out good, but I first have to remove the dealerships attempt to fix it :)

The 3M site on NVH says "It can also be applied over existing damping material as long as the original material is still integrally bonded." Integrally bonded?

It looks like they used silicone or something on mine, so I'm just going to take that off. It looks like crap....basically like Stevie Wonder did it or someone with severe muscle tweaks :)

Just wanted to add another report of hood adhesive failure on my 2016 TRD Off Road. I think hte dealer fix would be a bigger pain than DIY. Just another problem to add to the list . . . 2017 F150's looking better each day.

They (Toyota) used such a small amount of that "adhesive" material in the first place I would just go over and around it. At least that's what I did. I can understand why they used specific spots.. they're producing thousands of these vehicles but you can splurge on your truck and put that NVH material wherever and how much you think you'll need. Two tubes is more than enough to reinforce the entire hood if needed.

Is the dealer supposed to have the body shop doing the repairs repaint the underside of the hood? My truck is currently being fixed for the vibrating hood and when I asked the service advisor if they would paint the inside of the hood after they reapplied new adhesive he looked at me as if I was speaking Mandarin.

Just seems most people in here are getting their hood resprayed with this fix.

This is why I will never take it in for the problem until Toyota issues a FORMAL and OFFICIAL TSB to fix these hoods. I will not stand for the dealer outsourcing a brand new truck to a 3rd party body shop. Toyota needs to find a better way to fix this to adhere to a standard and universal application.
