I thought i had the same issue. Only worked intermittently when wheel was turned. I ordered a clock spring off Amazon with solid reviews then decided to tear the horns apart first. I literally took the pins out of the horn plugs and they were toast so I just upgraded to hella horns with new wiring and everything works like a charm now. Food for thought i guess.

Earlier this week I wen't to use my horn for the first time I can remember in at least a year, and nothing happened, came very close to getting in an accident. Naturally I came home a jumped on the forum and saw its a fairly common problem for the second gens. I checked all my fuses and everything is good. My horn works when I set my alarm or hit the panic button. I'm not having any airbag light or stereo issues though. Well looks like I'll be buying a new spiral cable and installing next weekend. I Wonder why the recall only covers up to 2009 when clearly this problem occurs in newer models as well.

Talk with Gunny from Camelback. :gossip:

Probably because they have a million other recalls to deal with. Haven't gotten to these yet.

It's almost always the clockspring or spiral cable that causes a non-functioning horn. Accompanies with things like the SRS light, erratic stereo controls, etc.

OK I have not read every post here but just started and watched part of the removal video. He made no mention of disconnecting the battery before starting??? I'd be dammed if I'd remove an airbag with the battery still hooked up. Maybe I'm old school but please be careful out there!!!!

No worries here, one of the first lessons I learned in auto-shop back in the day, always disconnect the battery before doing any kind of electrical work on the vehicle. Do they even have auto-shop classes for high schools anymore?

I honestly think horns cause more danger than not. Personally i find it more effective to focus on avoiding the idiots rather than wasting reaction time to hit the horn, which will likely cause them to panic. Let them do their stupid shit avoid it and done and done. Dont think i've ever used mine except for letting people know im at their house lol

That's funny. Everytime I see the title of this thread, I think of that sticker.

If you didn't post it, I would have.

little bump. Just need someone to check my work here...

    Horns havent been working.

Checked fuse and relay in fuse box, both check out good.

Both plugs at horns check out good for 12v when alarm sounds.

Only one horn works while alarm sounds.

I get 12v when pressing horn on steering wheel, only when steering wheel is at full lock in one direction.

Safe to assume I need a spiral cable and at least one new horn? I plan on just going to Hellas. I also havent had any other issues with steering wheel controls, etc.

#84306-0E010 still no issues with this Ebay part @DrFunker ?

    No issues.
I got mine from Gunny. Expensive but much less expensive than the local dealer was quoting me.
I would say your diagnoses are correct.
