Hey, hey, hey, just because you're brain damaged already does not mean the rest of us shouldn't CYA! :p

Just because he's from CA doesn't guarantee he's brain damaged already,,, maybe more likely, but NOT guaranteed. :D:D:D

I have a similar commute. 45 N to BW8 to get off on Pasadena Blvd every morning. This morning was quite the cluster fuck with the wreck right by the entrance to BW8.

Buy your own helmet. Snell certified is best. Buy a cheap ass used small bike to learn the ins and outs. If you buy a 08-09 ninja 250 it'll be very forgiving, allow you to learn, and you'll get most if not all your money back selling it. Then buy the bigger bike. Just remember, the bigger the bike, the more you have to pick up when you inevitably dump it. Everyone drops a bike at least once. It's not always your fault if you drop it either.

there are a ton of helmet ratings out there, the ECE R22.05 is (arguably) the best because it requires the most rigorous testing. https://www.bikebandit.com/blog/motorcycle-helmet-faqs-dot-snell-and-ece

Also Snell is about to come out with an updated rating next year, as they do that every 5 years and the current one is M2015.

What he said on the bike though, go small at first, learn, see if you really like it. The ninja 250 or other small honda/yamaha etc. will hold value well, give you time to learn and then turn it when youre ready (or add another bike to the garage). Ive got a small dual sport (honda CRF250L rally) and am loving it. its fun, I dont need to take it ont he highway so thats not what I bought it for, and its very forgiving.

Thanks for the update on the ECE. Didn't realize it was a thing. I just knew Snell was always on top of their game.
