Ordered a 2022 access cab in Aug. Still waiting, have any actually been built / sold yet?
As am being told everyone wants 4 door trucks so thats what they are making. :notsure:

Any wild vibration issues for 2022? Bipolar Trans shifting?. anything to report?
Or are the 2022's just the same as the 2021's?

    Thanks!

I heard the 2022's were the worst year of any Tacoma. You should cancel.

Since 2015 there have been no 2 doors (regular cab), no 5 lug models, no transmission dipsticks

Lots of cupholders and LED widgets though!

Ok, Access cab. Just sounds lame. Still prefer the term xtra cab... Non binary, non 4 door trucks. Better?

I saw 2 new SR's at a dealer this week in access cab. My 2022 access cab is due in about a month.

I went with the SR, in celestial silver, V6, 4WD, SX pkg, all-weather floor and sill protectors, bed mat, and mud guards. I ordered on 12/17 and was told it would be 12-15 weeks. On Monday I asked the salesman for an update. He said "a few weeks may ... I'm going to say like 5 just to be safe." That was encouraging.

    Oh look, another mod....
The truck is available in 6 trims: base SR, mid-level SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, Limited, and range-topping TRD Pro. The truck is offered in Access Cab and Double Cab configurations with long or short bed sizes. The Regular Cab model was not carried over for the new generation pickup as it was discontinued in 2015.

Ok, I get it. Am interested in a truck with a 6' bed. That have only 2 outside door handles. :bananadance: Ordered a white V6 SR5 with no other options.

I have never had a Tacoma before, so I have nothing to compare to although I have raced offroad vehicles and had many vehicles to compare with. My last vehicle before the Tacoma was a 2017 Jeep Jku with bumpers, winch, lift, tires and spacers. I love the Tacoma TRD Offroad so far about 1,000 miles driving it with some towing. Very solid vehicle, plenty of power, drives like a truck not a car and shifts just fine on the flat. I use the ECT button when towing, driving up hills and winding roads just like it says in the manual. I can see with larger tires why people might say the tranny searches for gears but with a stock set up it's just fine.

    I picked up my 2022 Limited 12/31/21.
Put about 150 miles on it.
My first Tacoma, had several 4Runner's, I was really scared about the strange shift points & powerband issues I've read all over the forums.
I had made a firm decision to have the ECU flashed - "tuned", promptly after taking delivery.
Very pleasantly surprised, as the truck drives just as one would expect, no odd shifting, strong acceleration & power throughout the RPM range.
Based on the amount of hate I've read out there, I am curious if Toyota makes running production changes to address issues based on customer feedback.

Everything will be vibrating and Toyota will make sure to use more drunk monkeys in your transmission.

No it’s just this forum. Transmission and lack of power issues are overblown on here.

I'm glad to hear you're pleasantly surprised. I'm waiting to have my 2022 SR delivered next month. 4th Toyota truck, and 1st automatic transmission ever in a new vehicle. I hear you about all the talk here. But let me ask you something. You said, "I had made a firm decision to have the ECU flashed - "tuned", promptly after taking delivery." That's something done at the dealer, right? Is that something I should ask the dealer to do before I sign papers?

I believe your 22 will come with the latest TSB ECU update. Pretty sure he was referring to an aftermarket tune. IMHO aftermarket tune is not a necessity, but it makes the truck a lot more fun to drive.
