You can replace these expensive parts, or live with it. If it does not affect alignment (I assume it doesn't), then live with it. I wouldn't do anything, just be careful next time.

Jesus I hope your right. Worries. Maybe take it to Toyota to be sure or the 4x4 shop I’m getting the lift from?? If it checks out paint so it don’t rust? Thanks for your feedback.

I would not go to Toyota, this will most likely affect your warranty. Go to an alignment shop and have them check it out.

If Toyota sees that.... it will definitely void his warranty!

If I ever went in for something else under warranty wouldn’t they see it then?

Yes and if you want warranty to fix parts like
... steering components or other suspension related items you will be left holding the bag. Fyi they will almost always void the warranty for a installed lift unless they sold it and installed it.

Let's assume unrelated damage, but still, I wouldn't draw their attention to this.

I see a shitload of paint scrapes, and some minor frame tweaking, but it looks like it is fine mechanically speaking. I'd hit it with some paint or something to avoid rust.

Honestly, when you are seeking warranty work for unrelated stuff, depending on who the techs are they may not even notice.

It doesn’t look that bad. It would still be worth having your 4 x 4 shop take a look. As an added bonus, the new skid will hide that damage.

These are the only one that's of any concern and it doesn't look bad. I'd clean them one up and get some paint on it to prevent rust. The underside of my last truck and my 2008 had/have scraps and dings like that. It's inevitable if you use your truck. And I've got skid plates, Budbuilt on my last truck and a Pelfreybilt on this one. You can't protect everything.

The others are on skid plates, which is why they are there in the first place - to protect more important stuff. As you may have noticed Toyota doesn't put hard core plates on but they get the job done for light 'wheeling.

A rule of advice. Don't go offroading in anything you aren't ready to pay cash to fix.

Thanks man! I have 3 skids coming from RCI and a lift in the works. I cleaned up the crossmeber you spoke of and hit it with paint. The other one (removable) holding the Tran is getting replaced.

I have the full RCI skid plate set on mine. They saved me a ton of money and hassle.

A buddy who has my truck, but a year newer, and I took some Boy Scouts out to Moab to run a nice beginner trail. Fins 'n Things was beautiful, but when one of the boys ignored my spotting signals and drove straight off a 30" step my life flashed before my eyes. I watched the front come down and the rear end lift into the air, then a sickening thud as the truck landed square on the transfer case skid plate. (I did not do an exhaust reroute, and so had the dropped spot in the skid plate. I kept looking for oil to flow, but the skid had done its job. It was mashed against the exhaust pipe, but NO DAMAGE to the truck! No $1,000 back country towing charge. No $2700 transfer case replacement.

I got home, pulled the plate off, and now I'm waiting to get my exhaust rerouted and a smooth plate shipped in to replace the mashed one.

Installation was easy, too. My son and I did the whole job in about 2 hours. We aren't mechanics, and we don't have a car lift, either.

That damage won't void any warranty. My 17 looks way worse and the Toyota Tech's have seen it during other warranty work. I would agree with others though that skid plates are necessary.

If you had driveability issues due to a smashed part then that one part wouldn't be covered. Everything else is still covered.

Keep using your truck and enjoy it.
