How big of a tire?

    Hey guys,

    I was just curious what you guys thought on tire sizes. Currently running 245/75 on a 16x8 (4.5" backspacing). Also have the readylift 5 lug kit installed. How big of a tire do you guys think I can go?

    I have 265/65/17 and it rubs quite a bit if i turn the steering wheel all the way.

    Steven (Stupid hurts.) is running 265/70R16 on his 5 lug. From my research, this is the biggest tire setup I've seen with a Readylift setup.

    I guess I'm looking for a size that I can jump up to without have to gut the fenders. I'm sure he's rubbing quite a bit. Out of curiosity, what are you running currently?

    I'm also trying to figure out a way of getting at least 2 more inches of life, but I can't find exact prices or which option is the best way. I've heard UCA from total chaos, but then what coilovers do you use? Any recommendations on a way to raise the truck 2"?

    Total chaos recommends either a sway-a-way or icon coilovers for their UCA kit. The coilovers are specifically made for the 5-lug and you have to cut the factory bump stop off to clear the coilover. I doubt it would be a good idea to run them at the same time as top plate spacers. The TC UCA's plus coilovers are going to run around 1200-1400 bucks for the parts.

    I have 31x10.5 on my truck. How high does your truck sit now? Did you take pics before you did your lift?

    Do you plan on lifting your truck? W/out a lift, stock wheels, you can run 30x9.5/R15.

    With Readylift, I am running 31x10.5 with aftermarket wheels.

    hopefully this helps...I don't have a 5 lugger, but I do have the regular cab prerunner and I'm running 265/75/16 with no rubbing and only bilsteins up front set at 1.75" which I don't think really does anything for tire clearance.

    Just curious...I've seen your tacoma in here quite a bit, but never thought to ask you....did you re-gear? I have the same tacoma as you, but with 265/75r16 tires and I felt a major performance drop with them, but you have the 285s....

    I just bought and received 255 75 17 firestone AT I have the stock 265 75 16 on now. I am using the FJ alloys and last night kinda measured them against the truck. I researched it and overall dimensions were only off by .25 all the way around but the tire looks alot bigger than I thought. I wont know until I put them on might need some 5100's. I have no lift currently.

    well took them down to the tire shop to get mounted and I think I am screwed. The tire looks atleast and inch bigger all the way around unlike tireracks estimation. Bummed out If I cant run these today. Save some pennies for the 5100s i guess.

    Wow did I get lucky they fit and no problems with tire rub. I'll post some pics as soon as I figure out how.
