I recently saw a picture of a guy who used a 1 inch spacer to LIFT his driver's seat UP 1 inch, but I am in the market to LOWER my seat by any amount.

    Any thoughts or solutions?

I was wondering the same thing, would be nice to have the ability to make it a bit lower.

The kit I've seen raises the back of the seat but what I'd be interested in is raising the front of the seat a little. I find that I don't get enough support under my legs, leaving almost half of my upper leg off the seat. Is it just me?

How much room would you get by lowering the mounting points .

Square tubing with weld nuts through the floor Not sure just how much that would give

    First thought I had.

As far as that goes maybe drop the whole floor that needs looking at though.

Then you will loose the ability to slide the seat because it will be rubbing on the floor.

Raising is easy lowering is gonna take some thinking

All of this have been avoided if Toyota would have installed seat height adjusters sometime when the 2nd gen was out. Then continued this feature on the 3rd gen.

That would raise the seat height with the current seats. They need to design a new seat frame to do this

You only have so much room to work with .

The whole floor pan would also need to be lowered to allow the new seat brackets to go below the level they are now.

    Another $5000.00 or more option.

Anybody find a feasible way to do this? I'm 6'1" and if I sit up straight my head touches the roof liner of my '17 Limited. This is one of just a few complaints I have with my Taco. I can scoot down in the seat for headroom comfort but then my lower back gets fatigued pretty quickly. I've also tried adjusting the seat back by laying it back some but then I have to put the seat so far forward to reach the steering wheel that my kegs are very cramped and I even have trouble driving...it's not a safe position.

I guess there must not be anybody on Toyota's design team that is taller than 6'.

You can lower the rear anchors by about 1 inch, but that'll probably end up being only half inch drop since the front won't drop. I had a 2006 Mazda MX-5 that we did the same. You can grind out the 2 rivets at the end of the rear track and fabricate a straight piece instead of the one currently there that raises the track by about 1 inch.

You'll probably find people to tell you it's not safe, and I'd never do it for anyone else, but I did it once on my own car and it helped quite a bit.

Any chance of finding that photo so we can get an idea how to do that to ours?

I'd liken to raise my front only.

Either lower the seat height, or raise the steering wheel! I've never been in any vehicle that rewards skipping leg day as much. Damn, toyota...

I used to have a Miata, and many drivers complained of seat height, so a common solution was the "foamectomy" mod. Basically you carved out the foam where your butt was, which made the seat height lower and improved fit. I am not sure how effective this would be in a Tacoma though.

You must have incredibly stubby arms and legs. I am 6'2 and clear no problem. I also have a sunroof. Learn to lean your seat back just a touch.

I'm just a hair under 6', and I would be happy enough if the steering wheel would telescope out an inch more.

I have to keep the seat back enough so my knees won't hit the steering column (they still hit, I just go back until this is bearable). This has me reaching just a bit too much for the steering wheel. Perfectly reachable, just not as comfortable as it could be. I try to recline less to compensate, but always end up going back to the more obtuse angle after a few minutes of discomfort(head clearance also starts to become an issue).
