how come the 6speed gets less city mpg?

    Satoshi Grille. 245/75r16 hercules terra trac a/t. Afe pro dry s. ome 884s toytec 1.5 AAL for TSB. Twm shift knob
    (hypotheticqal question here)driving in an environment below 55 mph i dont understand how having a shorter 6th gear equates to -2mpg in the city per epa ratings. if your shift points(rpms) were the same as the 5 speed auto wouldnt having a shorter gear ratio be more efficient?

    the 5spd auto has a higher gear in 5th than the 6spd

    lower gear means more rpm's meaning less mpg's
