Shoot, I would have been much happier had it been.

Although, replacing them gave me an excuse to improve my traction options.

We (me and my minions about 25 years ago) told a coworker once that the air in her tires had to be rotated twice a year. We lost it when we caught her completely deflating the tires on her Civic before reinflating them.

Never felt bad about it. She thought Indiana Jones was a real person.

Haha, those kinds of people are just asking for it. I often ask myself "How do you get through life being that dumb?"

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Quite honestly, I'd take a Jeep Rubicon for serious off roading over a new 4Runner. Jeep still has solid front axles, both manual trans and transfer case options and standard. Removable top, simple interior that can be cleaned with a garden hose, doors come off too just to name a few.

Sorry guys, but the new 4Runner is a soccer mom SUV, nothing like the original design it was in the beginning. Now, if the current 4Runner was still like the first generation 4Runner with solid axles and all the goodies to actually go head to head with the Jeep mechanical wise, it would be a whole different ball game.

It is lacking a solid front axle... same as everyone here with a Tacoma. It isn't like the current Explorer that dropped BOF, solid rear axle, rear locker, and 2 speed transfer case. The 4Runner is a great compromise for the occasional off-roader. It isn't as good offroad as a Wrangler, but it is a lot more livable day to day. In the scale of offroad to mall, it still falls well into the offroad side.

Mine was traded for a RAV4 for my soccer mom wife because she found the 4Runner too cumbersome to daily drive and she preferred the car like drive of a CUV. I'll definitely have another 4Runner some day, though.

The closest thing we had to the wrangler was the FJ cruiser and now that is a thing of the past, but it was and still is a viable competitor. If I had a wrangler, I would only use it for off roading and playing though, Jeeps do not make good daily drivers, imo. I daily drove a 1980 CJ5 for years, great in the summer, miserable in the winter. Never again, I am too spoiled with my Taco to ever go back to daily driving a Jeep in -20 temperatures.

I constantly had to scrape ice off the INSIDE of the windows at intersections to see if someone was coming because the heater and defroster couldn't keep up, even though it was on full blast and doing it's best haha.

Here's the Jeep I daily drove for about 5 years, my first ride too. I learned a lot about wrenching with this thing, but it was simple to work on, had the big AMC carbbed 4.2 inline 6 under the hood.

Completely agree wranglers are not that great of a daily driver but off road wise, they run circles around a 4Runner, taco, or fj around. If you have wheeled both its actually a hilarious conversation to have because of how unfair it is. I have had 2 TJ (newest style 2 door only wrangler) with long arm kits, lockers, and everything to go with it and with some mostly bolt on parts you can follow most full tube buggies off road. Size and turning radius make a massive difference off-road.
