I have a video project to do for my English class and I thought I would be able to download news videos from fox news and other sites to use clips from but I can't figure out how to download them. Does anybody know how I can do this? I've heard of Keepvid.com or something like that you can use for youtube videos but nothing for other sites.

    Thanks for the help guys

Give me an example of a website you want the video off of... Some won't let you, but I know a few tricks. Many websites will let you do it

I've been using 'Download Youtube Videos + 3.3.5', which is a Firefox Add-On. It works well for YouTube and LiveLeak but not all sites. I believe it would be the second choice on the following link. Really depends on how they are encoding content but there are tons of Firefox Add-On to do this.

    Not enough.
I use real player. It has a setting where a download tab pops up on the video when you put your mouse over it. Even has a converter ask you can import it into windows movie maker.

Downloader helper. It's a firefox plugin. Can download almost anything. I've been using that for sometimes now. Not complicated at all, just see if the download helper icon lite up which means it can be downloaded and just click to download.

That links directly to the video at redlasso which can be embedded into Powerpoint by following the link I gave before. It involves using the Developer tab > More Controls > Shockwave Flash Object

I'll try to get the others while you test the waters with that one.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Use orbit downloader. I've been using it for a long time now. It's amazing what you can grab off the internet.

Ok well you are certainly making this as difficult as possible, what with using a damn Mac and needing the actual video

Here's the link to the actual video [in flv format] of the MSNBC. It's not HD or anything, but beggars can't be choosers
