So i really want a snug top or a leer, but I also dont have 2k to blow. I have like maybe 600 to 800 max I could spend. I've been searching craigslist with a 200 mile radius like a mad man trying to find a used one with no luck for the past few weeks. Is there a cheaper brand? Any tips?

    Thought about making my own.

    Ideas?

Also I have a long bed, and apparently there's a lot more short beds out there than I realized

Patience is key here. There are other brands available as well. Long bed will probably be a little harder to find though. Where do you live at?

I got my topper by dumb luck. I went to buy the tires I currently have from an old guy who had just put them on his second truck, and then the engine blew so he just ended selling the tires. Got to his house, and his son had a white DCSB parked in the garage with a topper on it. After we got the tire deal done, I casually inquired about his son's Tacoma, turns out his son was going to sell it and I mentioned i'd be interested in the topper. A few days later and $200 less in my bank account, I had a color matched topper.

Prior to that, I had been looking on CL and FB for a couple of months and the ones for sale were either farther than I cared to drive, were the wrong color, were $1k+ or were surprisingly for a long bed.

    Stock for now.. maybe
Person above is right... patience is key. I was looking in the SE US for several months before I couldn't wait anymore so I bought new. I'm very happy with my leer. If there is a dealer close by you can order a leer legend or legacy, cant remember but they dont advertise it online. It's the same without the 'frameless windows' and has a 5 year warranty not lifetime. Saved me over 600 bucks I think, still out of your price range I know but an option.
Hope you can find a cheap one on cra6or something but if not new one is very nice

Keep looking, they are out there.

Or just buy one, then the cheaper ones will pop up all over the place.:(:(o_O:annoyed:

This is true, its only been a few weeks on these sites but I was surprised when I literally found nothing in the seattle area.

I've been looking on and off for like a year with no luck (in my sub-$1000 price range). I think you just have to wait it out until one falls in your lap.

There are a lot of short bed toppers in my area. And then theres a few long bed ones going for like 2.2k used which i cant fathom

If you do buy new I recommend talking to Superhawk Canopies up in Marysville, WA. I was in the same boat as you, only worse because the AC/DC canopies don't properly fit a regular cab..and NOONE is selling a used RC canopy.

Anyways I called 8 different dealers and Superhawk had best prices and warranty. Plus Gary is a cool dude.

Wait... do access cab toppers not fit dcLb beds? I thought they both have 6ft beds

Yes, access cab and DCLB fit the same. Regular cab is a long bed, but the cab angle is different.

So, getting one off either a AC or DCLB will work on your DCLB, as long as it's from a 2nd gen. 3rd gen bed height is different and will look real goofy and won't fit right at the tailgate.

ok thank god I was literally just figuring out my "long bed" is a standard bed. Now the question is should I spray paint the seahawks logo on this topper lolol because the Brown on my tacoma's blue is gunna look... well... like shit
