How do quickfists mount to bed rails?

Picked up a pack of quickfists to mount my shovel to the bed rails, not sure how it works. What parts do I need? Don't need anything fancy, just need to get the job done securely.

 

Just get a bolt to fasten to them and a washer on the bolt to rest in the bed channel. As you tight the washer pulls to the inside edges of the rail

Get T Nuts that slide into the rail.

 

I think they are 3/8-16 T-nuts but if you type Tacoma bedrail t-nuts into Amazon you will find them.

You will have to drill out the quick fists for the bolt. I think I used a 3/4” long bolt.

The quickfist package says to use a #10 screw to fasten, I believe this is a 3/16" diameter. So I just go to home depot and get a couple #10 screws, and buy these things above, and it should screw right together?

The company that makes those dash mounts, has some really nice T-nuts. Can't recall the name at the moment.

 

No idea. Measure your channel for the washer, bring your clamps to the hardware store/HD

 

A #10 screw won’t thread into a 3/8” nut. You will need to get a 3/8-16 screw of the appropriate length and drill out your quickfist to fit it.

 

OK, now I'm confused. The packaging on quickfist says to use a #10 screw. But all the T-slot nuts I see on Amazon are 3/8"-16. I don't know how to use a drill. Are there t-slot nuts that will fit a #10 screw, or if not, is there an easy solution? Just need it to be secured when driving at 80mph.

 

There are not T slot nuts for the bed rails with a #10. #10 is a puny bolt. Everyone drills them out. It is easy and fast.

That might work but wouldn’t be as stout. You’d also have to figure out how to tighten it without the nut spinning.

 

Just bought some steel stock from the hardware store and cut to length. I added rubber bottle stoppers at the bottom. Make sure you prime and paint the straps with good paint or they will rust (unless you find stainless steel stock).

 

This. You have to grind them down to fit. But then they work like the bed cleats.

I didn’t even have to grind them. Slid right in. Have to tug a bit in certain parts of the rail. By far the cheapest method to mount things. Not sure if it was the same size though.

The ones I used we're the smallest my local hardware store had. I'll have to check Lowe's or home Depot for some I don't have to grind down
