How do you guys break in a new truck?

I try to drive at different speeds as much as possible, and I will not take a very long trip of more than 50 miles. What else should I be doing?

I am also thinking of changing the oil at 2000 miles instead of 3000?

Run her like you stole her!!! Then change the oil at 500 miles or there abouts.. Then Check out how dirty smelly the oil is.... You have nothing to loose, except the oil change..

Watch what you say! There could be people from Toyota that are reading this and they know who you are, then when you take your truck in for a warranty claim they have a reason to reject it when you say you ran the living crap out of it.
5 years ago, friend that owned a brand new Ford Ranger took it off road, engine sucked water in the intake, blew his engine, Ford rejected the warranty claiming he abused his truck taking it off road and running thru water, he got an attroney, he pointed out that Ford run advertizments and tv commericals of Rangers being run off road, Ford paid for his new engine.

I would drive it like you intend on driving it. If you plan on going balls out light to light, then do that. If you drive like Miss Daisey, then do that. No need with todays newer engines to drive any differently than your normal driving style.

I would recommend a 3k oil change for first time. Then go 5k there after IMO.

Definitely vary the speeds and stay close by so you can give her attention when she needs it...she'll thank you for that!

But also use plenty of lube and keep the dip stick clean.
