How do you determine if Tacoma came with keyless entry

I have an 06 that I bought about a month ago. I suspect it came with keyless entry but how do I determine for sure?

    yep..
Open up the glove box, and on each side there are plastic pins. Push away the trim and the glove box will drop down all the way.

Where the glove box latches, there's a 10mm bolt. Remove it, and the black plastic cover will remove (there are a few tabs holding it in)

Now you need to look for this [IMG]

That's the keyfob wireless receiver that controls the doors. If you have that, you can program a keyfob.

I went through this ordeal on my 09, trying to figure a way to get keyless entry. Turns out my truck didn't have this receiver. I bought a used one on eBay and plugged it into the harness behind the glove box, and was able to program the keyfob first try.

Edit: another way to determine if you have this receiver is to follow the Tacoma keyfob instructions. YouTube search for the directions. If your doors lock and unlock at the end, you're all set for a fob.

Trying to find this for my 2014... Do you happen to know the item number for this?

Perfect; thank you. I literally was finding it as I saw this come up. Seems like the same one for the 09' works for the '14. Fair to assume this was a fairly plug-n-play upgrade? As in, no additional wiring needed? My 2014 Pre-Runner is as basic as they come...

Should be! As long as you have power locks. I'd also check to see if you have the harness for it. Should be hanging there ready for the receiver.

You rock; thanks mate. Did you pay around $100 for it as well? Seems like $120-$150 is the normal price, even for an used one. Go figure...

No problem. I got lucky and paid around $50 for it on eBay. They seem to have gone way up in price. I bet you can find one in a salvage yard though. That was my original plan.

That website looks sketchy as hell haha. I looked at the About Us and seems strange they're selling auto parts . That last ebay link looks good though.

All the other ones I've seen say 05-15 and that is the same module. Not sure what's up with that part number.

Right? Can't tell if it is a fashion website or a car one. Staying away, just in case...

As for the other one, I sent the guy a message asking if it was model "89741-04010" and he said it wasn't; go figure. From the picture, it looks exactly like what I am looking for...

Do you recall if there was a sticker on the other side of yours showing "211870-101"? Seems like people use that number to describe it as well...

Been meaning to ask you... after installing the module and configuring the fob; does this setup “beep” when you lock the doors with the key fob?

Thanks for all the help, mate!

Yes you can, just did it.

I finally took out the glove box and found the receiver so I bought a cheap chinese fob off Amazon.

The only key the salesman gave me was a valet key and it worked just fine.

THANK YOU! I took out the glove box thinking the pigtail should have been back there and I was not able to find it. Thanks to your post I was able to remove the piece I should have taken off and there was the pigtail! I ordered the Door Receiver Module off of eBay....was definitely not $50, but I think it will be well worth it.
