OP- I'm assuming your talking flour tortilla? My answer, never. Here in CA you get them fresh and you fill them up and roll them up for a burrito. Quesadilla you just fold in half. Corn tortillas I steam to make them love-ily pliable. But you got to use two. One can't hold a taco like mine. Oh, and extra cilantro!

If I warm up a corn, of flour tortilla on a flat iron griddle, or whatever flat cooking surface I have, I use my hands.

This includes freshly made tortillas, as they're not sticky once one side is cooked.

If oils are introduced, then obviously a utensil is used as cooking oil can get hot as fuck (and will cause a fire if you go reaching in there, burn yourself and fling oil in other places). But we're not talking about using oils here.

Hands for me if I’m at home or heating only a few tortillas.

However, if I’m at work and I’m heating up 200 smaller tortillas I’ll put down as many as will fit on the griddle (It’s 40”x30”) and flip them with a burger flipper type turner thing.
If it’s a lot of 12” tortillas I’ll use my fingers.

It’s vastly faster and I don’t burn the shit out of my fingers from turning 200 tortillas.
But my fingers are a lot softer nowadays as I don’t do as much actual cooking as I used too.

I've done it with my hands, but said NOPE and let my mom finish.

Of course I was younger and probably not someone I'd trust in the kitchen.
