That's what I thought to at first but that is not the case. What if you get in to deep and get stuck?

You get off road experience by experiencing off road driving, by partaking in off road driving. There is no way to artificially gain experience. Start with easy trails.

Go with people that aren't going to pressure you to go through something that will potentially harm your vehicle.

Take a shovel and some sort of recovery gear (rope) at the very least. Take your time going through obstacles.

    get active on the forum

find people in your area that wheel together

    join them

    try it out

then determine if it is something you enjoy

this is just like any hobby mate.

you ever try something new? you normally don't just go spend a couple grand and find out after if you enjoy it or not.

As stated, go with people. Identify the the things that your truck sucks at and modify accordingly.

I suggest meeting up with people.

Dont be afraid to tell them you are a newbie.

If you go alone, make sure you always know where you are at and have a cell phone w signal at all times.

    this.
You learn what you need to modify by going out there.

Learn from offroading and camping out of your truck, this will show you what you need to work on and what to pack.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Go out with a group. See if it's even for you. If you have a friend you can drive with, go with them. Have them follow you on easy trails and see if it's something you want to drop money into.

You may find out you want to keep it stock. Or maybe go mild or wild.

Getting stuck or in an uncomfortable spot sometimes teaches you the most. The most I've ever learned on a trip is when @dtaco06 had to save me from rolling over haha

Yeah most people are super nice. Always willing to lend newbies a hand. Some people are dicks, but just let the people you're going with know that you are new and they'll help you out. Most people like to help and don't want you to wreck your rig.
