How do you get the toyota emblem out of the grill?

I need to paint it black and I don't want to destroy it trying to take it out. please tell me the trick to getting them out. thanks

 

if its like the 1st gens, theres 2 nuts on the back holding it in.

 

pop out the top 2 tabs from the back, and it will pivot out with the bottom

 

where are the tabs? in relation to the toyota symbol.

 

Top part about an inch from dead center on both sides. Push the tabs down it doesnt take much then it pivots out at the bottom.

 

pop the hood and they're on the back side of the grill

 

wish I would of waited a second longer before I went out there. I broke of the bottom thinking it was one of the tabs.

 

Friend of mine did the same thing.
Just epoxy it and let it dry real good... should be fine
