For those of you who mount your ez pass but use something to mask the ugly look from outside, what do you use? Black interior. I use mine for my daily commute and don’t want to have to grab it and hold up each time.

And this is what i do

Cover it with black tape and put it on the BACK of the mirror not on the glass... i don't even see it. and you don't have the white transponder showing on the glass

Thanks. I was searching for “ez pass” and not finding much. I guess regionally they go by different names

OP, I got some of this (you can buy it in small packages as well):
    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Scotch-2-P...VBobICh0EJA8ZEAQYBSABEgIPsvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Two strips on the center of the dashboard. It is clear and you don't even see it. Then mount the EZ-Pass. Holds and never fails. You could put it the mirror as well. This stuff holds pretty firmly. We don't do that because we shuttle one EZ Pass between two cars since we don't drive that much.

Mine has suction cups on it so when I need it, I reach into the glove box and stick it on the windshield.

    Pretty simple.

Our windshield's are pretty straight across, so I just put it up in the corner on the passenger side. I hardly notice it and it works great, never had an issue.

I pieced together a mount using a Go-Pro clip and a dashboard mount for a cell phone. Then I clipped it into the Factory Go Pro mount.

EDIT: I never thought much about the look from the outside, since I can't see it from the inside. But I suppose I could lay a piece of matte black vinyl on the side that shows to the world.

Mine is in the glove box. I was on a toll road and couldn't find it, so I went to the cash line that also is an EZ Pass line. Went to pay cash and the attendant said my EZ Pass was detected. Got home and searched my car and found it in the glove box so that is now where it stays.

Has anyone had issues with their pass not being read?

I have an OR, and coincidentally, when I switched rides and moved the EZ Pass to the Taco, it has apparently stopped working.
The tag is old (probably at least 8 years), so I think the battery is dead. I think it died when I moved it...

The MTA B&T team charges a $2 per crossing surcharge when they need to go to the plate (I-TOL; Image Toll) instead of E-TOL (electronic toll), so having to travel the bridges in NYC, this adds up fast.

Is there anything in the overhead (crawl control stuff, etc.) that would block / interfere with the EZ Pass signal?

You don’t have to mount an ez pass on your windshield. Just get one of the license plate mounted transponders. I did that shortly after buying my truck and realizing that the windshield mounted unit would be terrible no matter where I put it.

Mine just stays in the center compartment until I need it then I suction cup it on passenger side of mirror. I never thought about the aesthetics of the thing.

I had to call the customer service line to get the exterior tag. When you are logged in to your account for some reason your only option when requesting a new tag is for the interior windshield mounted one. I didn't have any trouble getting it.

I am just going to place it on the dash when I go through the toll tomorrow.
If I don't see the toll posted on my account within 48 hours, I am going to call and ask for a replacement exterior tag.

    Thanks for the advice.
