Depending on the AWD design....I'd say the AWD will work better.

Why? Because most AWD systems are setup to transfer power from wheels that slip to wheels that grip (so to speak). That includes front to back & side to side transfer.

Not only that, but they are designed more for street usage and the safety aspects of street usage & slippery conditions.

Sorry for the jack but it kinda pertains to this...

When in mid air from a jump, do I leave the clutch in gear or pushed in?

Curious what responses this will bring...

My gut instinct is to say keep the clutch pushed in to avoid any drivetrain or trans damage when you land. However, I also know that you have far less control over a vehicle when it is not in gear, so which is right?

I don't anticipate being in that situation with my truck, sounds like a great way to break something, but still interested in what's considered the proper approach.

i would say push the clutch in right before you land.

Neither.... You'll be too busy holding onto the steering wheel while your truck gets destroyed on the landing.

Sorry man.... These trucks are not meant for jumping. Before you do any jumps, start doing some research on how to upgrade and beef up your suspension & everything first. For gawd sake, wear a helmet and maybe get a rollcage too.

I just got the taco but before this one, I had an auto so there was no clutch to push in. I'm not talking about big jumps here, just enough to get all four wheels off the ground.

That's plenty..... The amount of speed needed to get all 4 wheels off the ground is enough speed to cause carnage on the landing. I just hope you give your truck some major TLC and you're lucky enough not to get hurt (or hurt anyone else) in the process.

4 wheel drive is 2 wheel drive front and rear, only one will spin in front or back if u have an airborne tire or on lots of ice with no traction
