Didn't buy through a dealer but getting my truck was an adventure..
found my 16 DCLB Sport tech pack on Craigslist from a private owner in Canada. Took a train from my town south of Portland Or up to Seattle(4.5hrs) then bus up to Bellingham(3.5hrs) where the seller picked me up in the truck and we went up to the border to import the truck and do the sale. Had 1000 miles & paid $32,500.

The dealer I bought mine from in Cleveland traded with a dealer somewhere in michigan, they drove the taco to Cleveland and then drove the vehicles the traded back. I got the truck with 267 miles on it. ( I agreed to this)
I couldn't find an MT at the time in Pa, Oh, Wv, In, only Michigan so I bought what I could find

1,100 Miles Ohio to Florida. I live in FL but from OH originally. I've purchased 2 Tacomas, '15 and '16, from a local dealer in FL but never got quite what I was looking for. In November I did the online build and submitted it to a different local dealer and then to one near my hometown in OH. Never heard from the FL dealer but got in touch with the OH dealer and have been working with them since Thanksgiving to get my unicorn Black TRD OR AC LB without the additional frills.

My new truck was supposedly being built on May 24th but hasn't made it to the dealership yet. I came to OH for an Eater vacation and tomorrow I go see my dealer for the first time so he can get a real look at my '16 that I'm trading and try get some finer details worked out. I have to be back to FL by next Monday and expect to have to make the trip back up to seal the deal in the next week or 2. It takes me 14.5 hours and ~$130 in gas each direction which is cheaper than flying and shipping trucks across the country but I knew that coming into it.

Hopefully I don't get any unpleasant surprises tomorrow with the dealer and I don't wreck my '16 truck before the trade.

I didn't travel, but instead had to wait 5 months for my truck to be built and delivered.

Apparently an Off Road 4x4 with Premium & Tech packages + JBL upgrade are a rare combination within the Gulf South region? :notsure:

Dealership/Salesman said if I wanted Inferno (my first pick of color), the wait would have been 6-7 months. Went with MGM to save time as I was on a shrinking timeline to get a vehicle.

I drove 3 hours to get mine. At the time it was the only quicksand in the local area.

I flew from Denver to Salt Lake City. They were the only dealer in the states surrounding Colorado that had a 4 cyl 5 speed on hand. Cheap one-way tickets on Frontier for me and my girlfriend, a night in a cheap hotel, and a 500 mile drive back.

Agreed. ATL dealers do not come off msrp. I drove 9 hours round trip to buy mine in Nashville.

My last few used vehicles were worth the drive to Montreal (2 hrs away) and Toronto (4 hrs way), but I got a great deal at my local dealership for the Taco.

I was wishful thinking one day and went to my local dealership (10 Miles) after one of my employees bought a work Tundra. Said I wanted a moonroof and longbed. Walked to the back lot and found her behind like 8 Rav4’s haha.

    LOVE IT
Full tech pack and TRD. All the bells and whistles with none of the chrome. I have terrible buyers remorse about everything from video games to golf clubs and still can’t find one this nice in the area. Seen a few out on the road. Love the Cement color but the Silver Sky I got has an awesome contrast with the black.

Wanted a TRD Pro. Took the day off work on the last Monday in Feb. It was also cold and rainy, perfect car shopping weather. Found a couple possibilities on one of the dealer websites here in Raleigh. When I went in to look at them, found out that it wasn't "really" on the lot, but was down in SC. Not necessarily a deal breaker as I knew exactly what I wanted. I was actually willing to buy and let them ship it here, but when I tried to negotiate with them (I had a price I was willing to pay where they still made a "little" money) it didn't go anywhere. They made it seem like I was lucky to "only" pay MSRP. I had done my homework and knew all the dealers in a 100 mile radius that had the Pro that I wanted listed on their website. Made a call to High Point (about 90 min away). Was very nice and told them that I was ready to buy today, but only at my price. I was happy to make the drive but didn't want to waste the time and gas if the price was going to change when I got there. They were very upfront and actually said that they hadn't made their numbers for the month and if I could get there we could deal. I let them know we were on the way and less than 2 hrs after we got there I was driving back in my new taco. It was an easy sell for both of us. Treated really nice. I just wish that they were a little closer so that they could take care of my warranty services. Didn't get the impression from the local dealer that they really wanted my business. The call back 2 days later when they called to follow up was interesting though....
