I found a couple online in Nashville I was interested in but ended up finding one in Rome that was exactly what I wanted.

Drove 3 hours from Charlotte to VA for a MT Cement Sport 4x4, definitely worth the trouble!

Loaded it up for a family fishing trip on day 2.

Oh man, you don't even want to know...it all started back in 1981 when I talked my Dad into buying a 1971 Land Cruiser.

Based on my very scientific poll of, well, basically just this site I've concluded that:
    1. Manual transmissions are in relatively high demand for tacomas
    2. MTs are impossible to find for sale in highly populated metropolitan areas.
    3. We're all willing to travel quite a distance to get the truck we want.
    4. Toyota probably has a millennial in a cubicle somewhere working the dealer inventory.

About seven miles. It was getting unloaded when I arrived. Only manual transmission in the area at the time. I had to wait for them to complete a PDI and put an inspection sticker on it before I could drive her home. Two other people were trying to buy her at the same time.

Local dealers tried to convince me that a new at the time 17' dcsb MT was going to be impossible to find. Went a few hours out of town and bought what I wanted lol.

I bought my 17 in August of 2016 when they were first hitting lots, dorschel did a dealer trade to get my SR MT all the way from Harrisburg PA. Easy for me, got lucky too!

Horrible selection locally. Almost bought from a dealer in VA but couldn't get it done. Then found the exact truck I wanted to build (in AZ) and it was already built. A few days later flew from NJ to AZ, did the deal, and drove it home.

I walked a half mile to the dealer and took the only OR access cab they had in stock. I'd far rather spend another couple bucks on a truck I'll drive for a decade to avoid hours of research, haggling, and travel time.

Around 11 hours including stops (Ohio). I flew there, picked up the truck and did a road trip back to NY.
Including the cost of the flight I still saved several hundred dollars, and it's great seeing an unfamiliar part of the country.

Couldn't find what I was looking for locally/online so I setup a deal at a dealer 250 miles away then found a better deal 550 miles away, both for cement OR 6MT's. Stopped by a local dealer on the way home from work one day hoping they had enough in stock to confirm my choice of color. Low & behold, they had just received a new shipment of fresh tacos that included MGM & Cavalry Blue manuals. I decided to forgo the out of state (cement) options & drove the MGM home the next day.

Local Dealer ordered what I wanted, had to wait several months but it was well worth it.

Roughly a 90-minute drive for me. There is a dealership about 40 minutes from my house, but they are absolute scumbags.
