My new Dbl cab 2012 4WD will be with me for the duration. I am 65 years old. I put 168K miles on my 93 with 6cyl and stick shift. Traded in my perfectly fine 2010 Rav4 on the 2012 because I missed driving a truck. Should be good now.

I usually keep cars about 10 years.

Last two cars we've gotten rid of succumbed to "electrical gremlins."

Mercury Sable station wagon would start reliably 99 times out of 100. one in a hundred doesn't seem bad right? Until every couple months like clockwork you're in a hurry to go somewhere, thinking about something else and "click." Had it towed to the shop a couple times and mechanic could never find the problem.

Ford F150 was actually about 16 years old, though I didn't buy that one new. Ran like a champ here at sea level but when I drove up to the mountains it would lose power, run rough and not throw any codes.

So, while I'd like to say I'll hang on to the truck for longer - odds are I'll hand it off around 2021 or so.

Until it's unrepairable, parts no longer available, Or can't drive it. Then I'll just get whatever new one is out.

At least 10 years. The only way that may not be true is if I end up buying a boat and need to tow a little more (not anything crazy large).

Then, I will trade my 4 cyl taco for a 6 cyl. Either way, I will have a taco.

When it kicks the bucket (in 20 years), the factory buys it back ilke my first gen, or I turn it over to a son one day.

I will Keep my 2012 for about 4 more years, then it will be handed down to my daughter - she's already asking for it! Hopefully there will be a new 3rd generation to buy at that time.

I have had my truck for about 2 and half years. I tend to hold on to my cars for a while I hope to have this one for a long time. I am either going to give to my son for his first truck or turn it into a sick trail rig. I told my wife I am not buying a new truck until I retire which is in 17 years.:D

    How long...in no particular order

Until it gets totaled by some dumb ass
Until they no longer make gasoline
    Until it falls apart
Until I can no longer get parts to maintain it

    ...a long time

    neglect, mostly.
i really have no intentions of ever selling it. i'll probably get a f-250 or 2500 duramax in the next 5 or 6 years, but i'll still keep the taco. ive actually thought about buying a first gen here sometime in the next couple of years as well haha. one i wouldn't mind beating up a little more.

Funny, whenever I buy a new vehicle I say I'm keeping this one forever, than I get the itch and the next thing you know I'm sitting in a new vehicle.

Just hit the year mark and I can't ever imagine not having this as my daily driver. She is all the vehicle I could ever need, yet to disappoint and I'll keep her as long as she'll run, even if I have to replace every part twice over.

I have a 4 year lease which started 3 months ago. My residual is $15k and I drive about 6500 miles a year. Even if I drive 40000 over the duration of the lease, that's still REALLY low mileage. Current 4 year old SR5 Double Cab 4x4s are going for $24,000. I'm buying mine after the lease for $15k and then I'll turn around and sell it for at least $20k and go get another and keep some money in my pocket.

My plan is to get something in 4 years that my son will have when he turns 16. He has just over 8 years and LOVES my truck. He's already hitting me up for it and he's still 7!!!

Hopefully Toyota doesn't take a big left turn over the next 4 years and fuck up the Tacoma design and features. I've always wanted the truck that I have right now and FINALLY have one so as long as I still love them, I'll drive one.

I plan on keeping mine for a long time. But I've said that with every truck I've had. But none of them were Tacoma's and I've wanted one of these trucks ever since I started driving and that was long before they were called Tacoma's. But with a little one on the way I don't think I'll be able to buy a new one for a while anyway so I think I'm good. Maybe in about 16 years I'll give it up to my son for a new one. :D
